Anyone ever wonder why Ted Ginn uses a punter's face mask on his helmet? :confused:

Just doesn't look right to me. He's got to be the only receiver in the league to sport one. Maybe he's trying to start a trend????

Only thing I can think of is maybe he has a hard time seeing ball coming at him.

Don't see much difference (Evans' is almost exactly the same). I would imagine it is for the same reason QBs wear facemasks with less bars, to get a less obstructed view.

Well that's the only thing I can really think of and the relevancy of Ohio State and now really isn't valid since he wore one then and is wearing one now.

But like that would be my best guess as to why he has wore them.
 
who cares as long as he catches footballs?

on a side note, damn he is small. look at the size of his arm in relation to the size of the football. wow.

Hey Steve Smith is pretty small too, but he's one of the best players in the league.
 
Wow is this offseason getting long. 1 post on Pat Whites gloves and another on Ted Ginn's facemask. Sadly enough I replied to both.

The bars on the facemask that are vertical take away a good amount of vision. Ginn and Evens wear pretty much the same helmet its just a regular Riddell you can see Ginns facemask is a much more punter style. Fitz wears a new fashion helmet that not to many WR's seem to like.

Ginn has always been known to wear a funny facemask though.

Seems to me he is asking for a broken nose with that witch is why a lot of players dont wear those.
 
why in the hell is ginn holding the ball like that, do not let ts see this pic ginns will get killed for that, and does it matter what mask he wears he still going to go out of bounds
 
thats almost a classic two-bar with a dual on top.... don't see that often...

the difference (look in my sig) is the 2nd horizontal bar from the bottom.... coming from the ear, a classic helmet has the upper bar go around, not the lower.... and RB's like Ricky would have them both go around.

** the reason Ginn wears a low facemask is because he fields punts and has to look up in the sky... when your head is tilted back and your dropping your eyes to peek at the oncoming traffic, the facemask can get in the way.
 
Gosh...Going out on a limb here...I think he's probably just more comfortable with that style of helmet. Just like a carpenter likes a certain brand of tool. Guys aren't for the most part trying to start trends with their tools....They choose them because they work best for them.
