After thinking much about our first game in the Saban era..reading the statements made by players and coach Saban on the importance of the game..I would say..the most important thing for us all to look for is game tempo.

Will Saban's practice and training camp tempo translate into game time. Like David Bowens said..everything Saban does is geared towards winning games. I will look for minimal offsides on the D..and minimal false starts on the O. I look for both Qb's to try and establish a ryhtmn. Hitting their receivers on short easy passes..sprinkled with a few deep throws.

Getting us into scoring position will be as if not more important than actually putting us into the endzone at this point..because we havent really had time to work on our redzone offense.

I will look for a very disciplined team for the first preseason game...and I predict we will hear just that from the announcers. Keep the mistakes to a minimum.

Like Saban said..pre season games mean nothing until you lose one. As long as we dont lose tonights game in the first two quarters...we should feel pretty good.

Yes! Disciplined football is key. And it's somethingwe've lacked for several seasons now.

I also hope we can hold up physically at the line of scrimmage. Schemes will be vanilla on both sides tonight and we can see our new DT's in action and if we've improved technique-wise with HH coaching the o-line.

I can't wait!!!

You didn't happen to read this, did you?

To be completely honest..I had never seen that column until just now. So..that being said...what does that have to do with my post?

i hope to see the same....but dont think it will happen that fast on the first pre-season game.

with a new coaching staff and playbook.... i think there will be plenty of mistakes in the beginning...on both sides........ hopefully we will look solid before the start of the season. thats all i care about...

I was just thinking Great Minds Think Alike, as I, too, am looking for a crisp tempo from the Dolphins, owing to the Saban Effect.

I would love to see the dolphins get back to being one of the least penalized teams in the NFL. We have really declined in that area the past few years. Tempo will be important as well at attitude. We need to hope the young players are hungry and show they want to go for the whole 60 minutes.

The only thing that is important tonight is to come out healthy, it doesn't matter if you stink or if you look great. Starters won't be in long so the only thing that matter is coming out as healthy as possible.

Yup...I think thats where we will see the first major improvement..noticable anyways. Im not saying mistake free however. Obviously its the first game...but relative to the first game..I think we will be impressive in the tempo..lack of false starts..etc. By the way....yours was a very good commentary Dr. Zoom Zoom Zoom!!!!

Thats a load. Of course health is an issue..but when you are deciding who is lining up against Denver..tonight is very important. The next few games will go along ways to deciding who will be getting the majority of the snaps in games three and four. They will be our starters. Im sure on you "Super Bowl Bound" Jets you have nothing to work on..an have a lineup set...but us less fortunate have much work to get done.

If that was true, then there would be absolutely no point to preseason games.

When you have 5 preseason games the projected starters will nly play a series or 2. You will not learn much from preseason game 1 of 5. No our SB bound Jets do not have much to work on except getting into game shape. m Our roster is set and our starters are set just about everywhere except SS. You will never learn alot from preseason games, you can whip your opponeent every game and it's still meaningless, the only thing that matters is coming out healthy.

There really isn't a point to have 4 or 5 preseason games other than to screw loyal fans by making them pay full price to watch starters play a qtr or 2 and then watch guys who will never make it in the league.

Woah... I hope that is a load of sarcasm I hear. The Jets are by far a "Sure thing", I can't wait to sneak up on a few teams this year...
