1. Vontae Davis. I believed his character issues meant there was no way that Parcells and Ireland would draft him. Obviously it wasn't an issue for them and there's no denying that he is a very talented cornerback.

2. Passing on Connor Barwin and Clint Sintim for Pat White. Well the wildcat is here to stay. I bet Ireland started paying more attention to White after we beat the Patriots in Week 3 last season. Every time some analyst mentioned Pat White and the wildcat our front office must have been like "shut up!" At first I didn't like the pick. I was very high on Barwin. However now that I've had time to think about it I believe our offense is going to be a lot more explosive.

3. Trading back in the 2nd round and getting a another pick as well as Sean Smith. That was a nice surprise.

4. Passing on Dorrell Scott for Patrick Turner. That being said I'm a big fan of Turner. They must have considered Scott to be a reach in the 3rd round.

5. After passing on Scott the Dolphins passed on Vance Walker in the 5th and 6th round. Was all that talk about us wanting a nose tackle a smokescreen?

6. Brian Hartline in the 4th round. I did NOT see that coming. Especially with Louis Murphy still on the board. Scott was a reach in the 3rd but Hartline wasn't a reach in the 4th? How is that possible? Clearly the Dolphins do not evaluate players the same way most analysts do. As I step back and look at it I do like Hartline's size. He's fast and quick. Plus he should be a standout on special teams.

7. We didn't draft Don Carey. I thought he was a lock in the 6th round. It's a good thing we got Smith in the 2nd because the Browns snagged Carey four spots ahead of us. I wonder if we still would have taken him if they didn't.

8. Passing on Michael Hamlin for Chris Clemons. By all accounts Hamlin was rated higher. Personally I believe we made the right call.

9. J.D. Folsom from Weber State. Who? What? I never heard of the guy. He must be pretty good if they took him instead of Frantz Joseph.

10. Trading away our second 7th round pick instead of drafting Ian Johnson, Brock Bolen, Andy Kemp, Frantz Joseph, Lee Robinson, or Graham Gano. I can't believe none of those guys were rated high enough on our board. They've all been signed as undrafted free agents.

Pat White wasn't an Ireland pick, it was a Parcells pick.. Parcells was in love with Pat White before game 3 against the Pats last season.

Charley Casserly (who he considers Parcells his best friend), said that Parcells told him a year ago that if Pat White was there with the first 2nd round pick, that he would pick him. Parcells is in love with the kid and thinks he is everything a football player should be. A leader, a winner, smart, disciplined (no fumbles on 650 rushes). As per Charley Casserly, who again, considers Parcells his best friend.

The guy who works on Monday night countdown echoed that sentiment on his blog right after the pick. He said Parcells asked him for Arkansas gametapes when Parcells was out of football while he was working monday night countdown. Parcells saw the gametapes and was fascinated with the wildcat formations. Then when Parcells becomes Miami's president, he immediately hires David Lee from Arkansas, the founder of the wildcat there.

Make no mistake about it, Pat White was a Parcells pick all the way. And it was Parcells who was the true orchestator of the Wildcat coming to Miami and being a staple in our offense

I think it was. New England must have bought what we were selling because they leap frogged us and drafted Brace. I really think the FO is happy with Ferguson and Soliai at least for one more year. Also this year was a weak draft for a NT and I think next year will be much better.

wow it makes a lot of sense to me now, why we drafted pat white

With the additions of Gibril Wilson, Vontae Davis, and Sean Smith we will now have one of the best secondaries in the NFL. :woot:

Certainly looks good on paper. However, the learning curve is steep and it might take a year or two for these Davis and Smith to hit their stride. Just be patient.

10. Frantz Joseph ... I was shocked to be honest. They must have seen something they didn't like when they brought him in.

As far as Patrick Turner and Brian Hartline are concerned, it wouldn't surprise me if Parcells liked them because of their blocking ability.

There are a lot of big plays out of the spread if the WRs block well.

That would be my guess too!

If the Wildcat was a fluke, you would not see so many teams copying us, especially after the way we killed the New England Patriots with it early last season. Just because some people consider it to be a gimmick, doesn't mean they are right. The forward pass was once considered a gimmick in the NFL.

Wasn't this exact post in a different, previous thread?

It shocked me that we didn't use that last pick to get Rashad Jennings from liberty. Forgive me if i am wrong but wasn't he a sought after RB?
6'1" 230? Sounds like a stout fella to me

Me too! Prior to the draft would anybody have guessed that we would have picked J.D. Folsom instead of Frantz Joseph in the 7th round?

It just goes to show you that it doesn't really tell us anything when the Dolphins work out a player because we don't know how they felt about it afterwards. Obviously we gave Joseph an UDFA grade after his private workout in early April.

i am sorry if pat white is the future for the wildcat the dolphins should have just got mike vick better arm, speed, and experience. don't get me wrong i hate vick and pat white it was just a bad pick. that was not a need all he will do is take touches away from ronnie brown.
