Ten Thoughts on First Half of Panthers Preseason Game

I agree completely. Thomas' feet are a rare attribute. But he's probably at least a year away from hitting his potential in terms of all the fundamentals of carrying the football.

The good thing for him is he's already a pretty good pass protector. That will help keep him on the field and get reps while he's learning how to hold the ball, how to run with better pad level, etc etc.

I still wish we had another back to take the pressure off, though. Bush looked good the other night but it's only a matter of time before the sand runs out of the hour glass for him, injury wise. I can't help but think that if we're left with Thomas as our main back we're going to be throwing the ball 45 times a game just to keep up. Hopefully someone shakes loose from one place or another (New England and New Orleans in particular have more good backs on the roster than they can carry).

we're gonna speed up that hour glass on bush if we run him 8 times between the tackles in a game let alone a half in the regular season...its just an injury waiting to happen if we use him like that...kids tough he'll fight for everything he can get but he's just too lean in the lower half to take that kind of contact and survive...you and i both know it

anyways...what back in new orleans you got your eye on shaking out that can help us??? chris ivorys run of the mill downhill runner looks better in new orleans in that offense than he would many places...patrick cobbs looks like a lock cut but we've been there done that...

stevan ridley thus far in new england looks way better than on college tape i'm shocked how well he's played...i think the pats would cut kevin faulk or sammy morris who are both really long in the tooth before they'd cut green-ellis...i'm betting green-ellis, ridley, vereen and woodhead make that roster...if they don't trade green-ellis i doubt he'd get to us in cuts on waivers if they did release him

I can't believe no one brought up how much Ronnie Brown would dance after receiving the rock? I'm sorry, I didn't see much hesitation in Reggie Friday night?! I saw burst! I wasn't high on the Reggie signing, but it was a breath of fresh air to see a guy hit the hole like that! Ronnie simply did not do that! Ricky had that vision where he'd run it hard up there hard somestimes, whereas Ronnie just never did it! As far as dancing with Reggie, I didn't see it. I saw the number 22 darting and cutting on a dime with no hesitation! Which was a beautiful sight and let's hope this will continue on through the season, especially against the Patriots!!!

I don't have particular backs targeted in that I think they're talented and going to get cut. Those are just two places with a glut at running back where someone might shake free. I agree that Chris Ivory is nothing special but nothing special is still better than Lex Hilliard, in my view. It's hard for me to imagine four pure running backs make the Pats (though you never know). That's a lot of running backs. Sammy Morris, I agree, is probably gone and not worth picking up but to bet they're going to cut Kevin Faulk, who's been so clutch for them over the years? I dunno. Imagine if they keep him. Then who goes?

Faulk is on the PUP list, will probably stay there to start the year so NE can keep an extra RB until he is healthy.

ehhh... I dont care what anyone says. I saw alot of things out there that we havent seen for a long time. Noone is bringing me down.

I think it's awful hard to come away from that game thinking that Reggie Bush was anything but great.

I mean nobody's perfect, and weaknesses can be found in everyone's game, but that sure wasn't the game to find fault with Reggie Bush for anything.

CK as I unfortuantley will have to agree with you. I cannot continue to have the dolphined glasses. Your recap of the Carolina game and the history of these players just confirm what I know but do not want to accept:
Henne is and always will be a backup QB at best. I just do not understand how everybody in NFL can see this, and fans know this, but owner does nothing. They have to know what they have in Henne. Are they really that blind, or sure of there coaching ability that they do not think they need a QB or are they satisfied in ending at the middle of the pack again, if we are lucky.
Bush - that was one RB I did not want, he is a very good third down back and so far that was he has shown in his years in NFL. Again is the Dolphin coaching staff blind or do really think they can change him.

Saying all that I hope both Henne and Bush have great season and those of us who have doubted them can eat crow.
