Fired receivers coach Terry Robiskie indicated before he was canned that immaturity is holding back Derek Hagan.

"The biggest thing is for him to get married," Robiskie said of Hagan. "Single guys don't have the focus of married guys. He's focusing on the rims of his car, on 'Am I Cingular or T-Mobile?' and other things that are so irrelevant. He's got too many focuses." Hagan has starting caliber ability, but his hands are inconsistent. He will compete for a starting job in 2008

Ah yes, nothing like the good ol ball and chain to put a guy down.

i do believe that hagan can be a solid receiver maybe not a number one but a decent slot guy he has the talent im not ready to throw the book at this guy just yet.

He's got the talent so maybe he just needs to grow up.

Ozzy rules!!

i think hagan could be big-time if he focuses...and im thinking the parcells regime will get him to buckle down

I think hes too big to be a slot guy. I think he'd be better as an X or split end receiver with Ginn the Z reciever.

Take the whole marriage thing with a grain of salt. Basically he could have said Hagan needs to focus more on football and if he does he can be something special.

Now they say it takes 3 years for a WideReciever to mature. This will be his third year. With him having to deal with his third coach in 3 years lets give him one more year to develope then make a judgement call.

Hey maybe blame it on the coaches. Miami receivers are aalways at the top of the leaderboard in dropsies. This year it was "Sure handed" Marty Booker.

Last year we had Chambers, McMike and Hagan up there. This year Chambers had a couple drops early, and doens't drop much more (maybe one or two) in ten games in San Diego. What gives?

I think Hagan looks real good at times. He has potential, probably as a solid #2. Wish he would get there.

Robiske is dead on.

I was a little more than happy when Miami got Hagan in that draft. I felt then that he had the potential to be one of the better WR to come out of that draft class, and I stick to my guns on that. Yet, talent can only get you so far when you don't want to put the work in.
