Why hasn't there been more talk about this guy? 6'5 245 and a great athlete, former second round pick. In college he showed how athletic he was when he moved into the starting lineup for Stanford's nationally ranked basketball team. I say this becasue his talent is very similar to Antonio Gates, another two star athelete.
On paper this guy is star but there is no denying he has underachieved in the NFL. Yet, still with his skill set he cannot be overlooked, so why hasn't there been much talk about him? Does the Signing of Heinrich, along with the other TE's signed (Peelle,Rader,McMichael) suggest he isn't even going to make the team? I hope not beacuse this guys can be a star. With a change of scene and great coaching working on his consistency as a route runner and blocking skills, this guy would add a great dynamic to our football team.

i 100% agree with you if not TE go back to reciever like college used him, my main concern is why all these new signed tight ends.Mularky does like the blocking tight end , is teyo a great blocker?, hes sure can stretch the field and rich gannon once raved about teyo being a great athlete on nfl network once, go figure dolphins.com got him listed at 6-6

He is certainly a FinHeaven darling. I know nothing about him. Where did he play before? ok nevermind, oakland

I see Mularkey going with a 2 TE set more. He likes to pound the ball and use the middle passing game. Teyo has a world of talent but he hasn't shown the desire to be consistent. I think what Saban is doing is knowing that TE is a big part of the game plan and he needs to get McMike in a more pass threat role he is bringing in as many quality TE's as possible and saying battle it out - Who wants it more. No doubt that there will be a physical blocking TE on the team to compliment McMike.
I think that is why there is no big panic because we really don't have a legit #3 WR on the team. Alot of potential but you need someone proven that can step in to #2 in case of an injury.

Yeah i could see him at reciever, mabey a big possesion type guy, beacuse we already have some speedsters in Cambell and Hagan. I just like the dynamic of him lining up at T.E. and going down the middle for a huge gain

Does anybody realize that this guy has been cut by two different teams. Plus, why would the Dolphins sign Heinrich if Teyo is such a stud?

Thats kind of the question I was asking, looking to see if anyone had info on how the staff feels about Teyo beacuse of this recent signing

Yes, if anything, the signing of Heinrich might indicate a dissatisfaction with Johnson. Johnson has been cut before. I believe there is some knock on him for lack of effort.

C'mon now heinrich was brought in to battle for a spot, and imo is not a guarntee to make the roster. Nobody in this thread said teyo is a stud, just that he has a boatload of talent that could produce on the field, but his inconsistency and work ethic appears to hurt him. On paper Teyo is just as gifted a athlete as any TE in the league. Hes big, fast, and has a nice set of hands. Working with Houck should improve his blocking and if he sharpens every aspect of his game physically and mentally he will be a NASTY football player.

Good point. He was signed at the end of the year without even making any news.He must have been seriously overrated.

Teyo Johnson fills a different niche than either Heinrich or Peelle. Johnson is a pass catcher. Heinrich and Peelle are blockers.

We Dont NEEd TEYO

With Teyo its not a matter of need. Its a matter of ability. If you haven't noticed saban and co. dont go after need as much as they go after guys that can play and develope . Thats the whole idea of building a team for long term success. Yea teyo isn't looked at as an imediate contributar, but he is looked at as a guy that in the long run could help out our team in some way, shape, or form.
