Can you imagine if Dan had pulled this retirement garbage on us? The Distraction? I hope the Pack let him come back, but make him play 2nd string to Rodgers. That kid has bided his time and done what was asked, and now Favre wants to pull the rug out from under him and disrupt the team.

And don't get me started on Goodell cowtowing to this prima donna. The whole situation makes me sick.

And glad i'm a Dolphin fan of course:up:

Favre will never retire. It won't be until someone offers him the third QB position that he quits, like Jerry Rice.

I agree...but what a piece of crap, to do that to a club that traded for you, cultured and protected you, gave you everything you asked for (excpet Randy moss) and now you cut their nuts off publicly.

Favre....Autralian for A-Hole

Maybe he wanted his legacy to end with the entire league fighting for his playing rights?

I don't remember Jerry Rice getting the crap Favre is getting after retiring and unretiring a few times.

It's something you all don't seem to understand. The guy loves to play the game, and is still playing at a high level, but he doesn't know when to let go. He was very emotional as was Rice during their retirement speech; you can tell he has a lot of love for the game.

If he wants to play and he can still play at a high level, as he showed last season, he has every right to ask for reinstatement and come back to play. I don't know why most of the fans here are against it (perhaps you are all still mad about Favre shattering Marino's TD record), but every superstar/player interviewed about Brett Favre being reinstated and coming back is all for it. They all understand that he is a great player and still playing at a high level.

By the way, Marino's last two seasons was very average, and he was not coming out of a great season before his last 2 seasons like the one Favre is coming out of right now. No offense to all the Marino fans, which by the way, I am one too, but that is just the truth.

But he was basically forced out of the league.

His "love of the game" isn't why he wants to play. He loves the money and he loves the attention.

That's your assumption about why he wants to play. Last year I saw Favre having the most fun he's had in a long time; playing at a very rare level for a player his age.

I'll understand if you're talking about a player like Roger Clemens, where he wouldn't do anything less than 28 mill to get back from retirement. But players like Favre, Rice, Michael Jordan. They got so much love for their respective sports, and don't know when to let go. Difference between Favre and the rest of those two other great players is that he still got game and when reinstated, he is still a Top quarterback/pro bowl player in the league.

Really? So if he gets traded to...oh, i dunno.....the Bears or the Falcons, he's still a great? I don't think so, he's either on his butt or on the sideline concussed. And nobody forced him to retire. He chose that path. If the Pack wanted to greet him back with open arms, thats great. But they made theor choice to go with Rodgers. Favre should accept the back up role *which still sucks for Rodgers* amd shut up or stay retired. Stop grandstanding and hurting the team you say you love

End of story

For me the problem isnt him wanting to come back, that I can understand, but it is the way he is going about it. He is being grossly unfair to Greenbay. This is a decission he should of made predraft not a week or two before traing camp opens.
For him to come bak now puts a 12 million dollar salary cap hit on the team, which without knowing thier cap shape, might put them over thier limit. What if greenbay went for a qb to replace favre in the draft or for players to fit a new offense styled to fit rodgers. I think its wrong for Goddell to forge GB to take him back.
They should be given more options then they getting. I think GB should be allowed to either take him back on the team, Find a trading partner, or force Favre to sit out one year without pay and then come back as a free agent next year.

Well said. Dan couldve tried to fleece the phins out of money too, but he didnt. Dude is rich and thats enough for him. Glad he has class. Favre on the other hand is a huge douche with no intentions of playing football. He just wants money. Its a straight up shakedown.

Jerry Rice actually wanted to play football though. He never pulled a straight shakedown. Rice accepted that his skills were diminished and played hard when his number was called, even if it were as a 4th receiver. Nothing wrong with that. He was still good enough for that role and he accepted it. He wanted to play. No one gave him a roster spot just because he was Jerry Rice.

At the same time I can't imagine that the fins would have told Marino we don't want you.

Favre is getting too much flack. If it was just about money he would have taken the hush money and left. I can't imagine they are choosing Aaron Rodgers over Brett Farve.

After his spineless act wore thin "oh, maybe i'll retire this year...i'll let you know when i know" for the last 4-5 years, i'm pretty sure they were ok with moving on when he finally commited to retiring.

The fact they didnt order a golden statue, name the stadium after him or sacrifice every male child born since he retired and welcome him back to boot.

Favre is an assclown. They took him back after all his antics and he ran away before his first practice began. Yeah, real stand up guy that Favre

Maybe you should look at the 2 seasons prior to last year for Favre's numbers as well. He wasn't actually a world beater, 38tds and 47 int. I've always loved Favre's game and his enthusiasm on the field, but he's looking like a real jerk right now. I agree with you that if he wants to play, he should try and play. But he's trying to strong arm the Packers at this point, and the Franchise has been around way longer than Brett has.
