I was fortunate with the great opportunity to meet a ton of Dolphin fans at the game last nite. It was great to Tailgate and socialize with alot of you.
I was really surprised at how many Dolphin fans were at the game and to say the least I had a ball with them. It was amazing to bask in the misery of the surrounding Panther fans. I met so many Dolphin fans that came up from Florida for the trip and we tailgaited before and after the game. You will never truly understand the level of glee I had when Ricky burst thru that line for the clinching TD. My voice is still in the Tank!!
Quick Checklist from my 50 yardline field view last nite.
Chad Henne - Looked poised, calm, and collected in and out of the pocket. The ball jumps off of his arm but he has alot more touch than I expected him to have on the ball. The lack of separation that our receivers get will only help him going forward because he is placing the ball in tight windows.
Ricky Williams - I've come full circle with Ricky and was treated to an awesome all around performance by him. He made my night by his battering ram performance. It was truly a spectical.
Vontae Davis and the Secondary - It was great to see the ****iness of Vontae Davis last night against Steve Smith. It was a battle that Steve got the best of but it wasn't buy much. He was right there and closed fast when the ball was in the air. We have a PLAYA in Davis and I look forward to seeing him improve for years to come. The secondary was shaky as a whole as I suspected but they battled and I enjoyed that.
J Peezy and our front 7 - This was another great thing to see last night. I finally got to see Joey wake up this season. Cam Wake looked like a beast out there and we continuously collapsed the pocket all night. We gave up the edge a bit much for my taste and there were times when we got no push up the middle on those runs but we were decent. We also looked confused at times when it came to covering the TE. But these are things I knew coming into this game. We must get better.
Special Teams and Ted Ginn - I knew this was our Ace in the hole coming into this game. The Panthers Kickoff coverage is the worse in the league and I knew if Ginn would just return the kick he would give us great field position. Honestly, I expected him to take one to the house and believe me when I say he had the opportunity each time he returned one. But when he did we started at the 40 so it was still a win for us.
We have great fans and I have got to start traveling to some of these games. We have alot of work to do but Henne makes me have a good feeling about the future. I think we may have found our Quarterback!!
