Yeah, it felt like a turning point game, and it was, but it sure didn’t turn the way I expected.Strangest fact about that game is that the Dolphins didn't win another game and the Cowboys didn't lose another game

We were down to a 40 something year old QB we called out of retirement and and the entire defense was injured - Offerdahl, Vincent, Oliver etc. ‘93 was going to be our year too. We were 4-1 before Dan got hurt and statistically he was having his second best season efficiency-wise of his career. We had already beaten the Bills at Orchard too. Total shame. Was in my early 20s. Went to visit my parents for Thanksgiving and watched it in comfort on the coach
It was bliss but still felt empty knowing the Fins weren’t going anywhere that year
Bane said it earlier in his post - “the whole team was injured”. We were down to Steve DeBerg at QB (brought out of retirement) and literally every top player on our D was out for the year. We ran out of horses. I think Scott Mitchell came back at the end of the year from his injury and played terribly as well.Yeah, it felt like a turning point game, and it was, but it sure didn’t turn the way I expected.
Was Scott Mitchell the Lions QB as well?Bane said it earlier in his post - “the whole team was injured”. Yes he went there after the ‘93 season w us - got a big contract. I think he had one really good year for them. Was Scott Mitchell the Lions QB as well?
There is a guy at my old job that still owes me $30 for that game. I changed jobs that Thanksgiving weekend. I went there but did not see him. So I left him a note on his car. Never heard one word from that piece of ****.You guys remember Thanksgiving of 1993 where you were watching the Dolphins upset the Cowboys? That’s the infamous Leon Lett fumble game. Happy Thanksgiving to you all this week!
And from I understand, the Lions players grew to hate him. Sounds like Mitchell turned into a big jerk in Detroit.Yes he went there after the ‘93 season w us - got a big contract. I think he had one really good year for them.
Years later he randomly appeared on the show “Biggest Loser” at like 350 lbs.And from I understand, the Lions players grew to hate him. Sounds like Mitchell turned into a big jerk in Detroit.
Yes, the Lions had a very good offense back in 1995 with Scott Mitchell as their QB, unfortunately for them their defense was largely ineffective.Yes he went there after the ‘93 season w us - got a big contract. I think he had one really good year for them.
In the NFL, nothing is guaranteed 'next year,' which is why I was so devastated when the Dolphins inexplicably just fell apart in the previous season's AFC championship game, playing at home vs. the Bills. We were down to a 40 something year old QB we called out of retirement and and the entire defense was injured - Offerdahl, Vincent, Oliver etc. ‘93 was going to be our year too. In hear you though I felt the ‘93 team was the best one we had in the ‘90s and had Dan + every good player on defense not gotten hurt I think we play in the SB that year. We were 4-1 and had beaten the Bills pretty handily in Orchard already. To your point about nothing guaranteed though. In the NFL, nothing is guaranteed 'next year,' which is why I was so devastated when the Dolphins inexplicably just fell apart in the previous season's AFC championship game, playing at home vs. the Bills.
I still recall my strong feeling that if Miami didn't exploit such a highly-favorable situation at the time, neither Dan Marino nor Don Shula would ever return to the Super Bowl. Unfortunately for the 'Aqua-&-Orange' and their fans, my reaction to the one-sided loss turned out to be an accurate glimpse of the future.

i would have not went and watched the game instead lol.My mother bought tickets for a Patsy Cline tribute show at the Variety Photoplays theater on 2nd Avenue off of 14th Street for that day. It was an old vaudeville theater that had been a porn theater in the late 80s/early 90s (don't ask how I knew) before new owners took it over and restored it to its former glory. I missed the game and had to wait until after dinner to see the highlights, but I did set the VCR to record it. If it was a choice between Mom and the Dolphins, Mom won every time!
