1) The call from 4th and goal is a no brainer. We make that run its 31-24 with 7:00 left and the Pats don't have that long 99 yd TD. Not saying the Patriots wouldn't score, but we had a good shot at forcing OT imo if we would have made that run.

2) Benny Sapp - I've been watching all the big plays over and over and over again and I've realized that they all have one thing in common, Benny Sapp is the one giving up the big play! 2 of Brady's 4 td's were given up by Sapp! As much as I don't like to blame players for being the main reason we lose a game, Benny Sapp single handedly lost us that game! Vontae was doing work before he started cramping as was Smith. Sapp doesn't have that excuse, he flat out stinks and deserves to be cut! Hopefully we sign Will Allen (i saw that we were talking to him about it today) or Nate Jones!

I also think that in the second guessing that has followed the game something has slipped under the radar that might explain how our defense was exposed so outright....

You guys remember this dude who played throughout ALL training camp and has been here for over a year learning our defense.

More importantly I am talking about how we've been game planning for this game all pre-season long and he goes to the Pats at the end of said pre-season with the knowledge of what we've been doing etc....

Now, its problably not true, to an extent, but I can't help but feel like it has to be a contributing factor given the way our defense was disected. It was as if they had the password to our defensive 'account'. I haven't seen such BS since Byars gave the 411 to Parcells and co.

I doubt that Edds was ever in the Dolphin's game plan for week 1. IMO.

Well, its not so much about being in the game plan as it is to know the defense. Know the fronts and the calls. Having inside info on certain people being that you've practiced with them everyday for the last whatever amount of days. Beli-cheat picked his brain for every bit of info.

I thought the 4th and goal call was pretty crappy but the defense played horrible. Absolutely no pressure on Brady all night. There were many times where it seemed like he had well over 4 seconds to throw the ball. None of the DBs did very well either but the dude looking for a job today was really bad.

The 2 main reasons fins lost:
1. they suck
2. they stepped on the field

It's not just Benny Sapp. There is no leader coordinating that secondary. If Gruden can call what Brady's gonna do from the booth, then one of the safeties needs to get his *** over to that side of the field and take off the top. That's what makes Polamalu and Reed so good.

I'd say the lack of pressure on Brady was the biggest cause for our loss. Our secondary suffered as a result of the nonexistent pass rush. Granted, there were plenty of plays where our secondary looked plain BAD, but if you allow Brady to stand in the pocket for OVER 6 SECONDS, he will pick you apart no matter who is in your secondary. Very few corners can hold their man for that long. Jones, Sapp, and Carroll deserve most of the blame in our secondary, imo. Jones had his eyes in the backfield on the big pass play on Vontae. VD had no safety help over the top because Jones bit HARD on the PA. Sapp was getting picked on throughout the night, but that is to be expected when you have to guard Welker all night. Again, a lot of Welker's dominance has to do with Jones' poor play. He definitely should have realized that Sapp was struggling, yet he provided little to no help. I'm not making excuses for Sapp, but you have to realize that he was going against the best slot receiver not named Davone Bess haha. Personally, I really don't think Sapp should have been released, he is sure as hell better than Carroll but whatever. Which leads me to Nolan Carroll. Once Vontae came out of the game from his injury, Carroll was getting ABUSED. It was almost hard to watch. Even if our pass rush was getting past the O-Line, it wouldn't have mattered because Carroll was almost getting beat almost immediately. So, long story short, I'd say that the pass rush deserves most of the blame, then the poor secondary play. This is just talking about the defensive side of the ball, I won't get into the questionable offensive redzone playcalls. Other than the defense's performance and poor redzone playcalling, I think this team has plenty of potential. Tighten up on D and no question we'll be #2 in the East.

That's a good point. And you couple that with a no-huddle and lots of audibling at the line and you have the makings for absolutely shredding a team. It's a wonder they didn't score 60.

Ah, zee conspiracy thee-o-ry .... Yaaasss!! Area 54 may-beeee, No???

Nah, we screwed the pooch on our own ... didn't need any outside help, spys, or nuttin!! We had Tony game-planning 3 weeks, invisible D, & gassed players. Didn't need ANY stinkin' help at all!! And, that's a fact Jack!!

Disagree....the main we reasons we lost is we were outcoached, which includes our team not being in condition to handle the heat, whilst the Patriots were for some odd reason. And, our defense failed to show, I saw no intensity with the exception of Wake after he was manhandled most of the first half by a rookie.

To further amplify how we were outcoached, despite New England showing a lot of no huddle in pre-season, Miami was totally unprepared for it....that my friends falls ultimately on Sparano.
