The 2025 Season, Superbowl Aspirations & the Tumor

I did not watch HardKnocks, so this is all news to me. It explains McD vaping on the sidelines, as many people who quit one vice, go hard at another. He couldn't wait another hour, or two for that hit of nicotine I guess. I really don't care if he belts downs a pint of whiskey a day, as long as he works on his deficiencies as a HC! There are 4 areas he needs shoring up and we all know what they are. I hope he has finally realized what they are. One disturbing thing I saw in a very recent article was Zach Sieler saying that the team was going to take care of the "meetings" problems and I assumed that to mean team meetings and we know there were un-named players showing up late to those last season. The fact that a player says "we" means him and his teammates, which must mean the Captains are going to handle it. This is what I don't agree with. That is HC territory. McD the moment he steps up to address the team at the 1st required OTA's et., he needs to say: "New policy. No more late arrivals. 1st time is a fine. 2nd time is a 1-game suspension." That will get their attention. It will also mean that "Coach" knows his butt is on the line this season, so is everyone else's! That is not totally changing his player-friendly style. It is just assuming control of the team. Long overdue and he better get on it because if they get into a losing streak this season, I think he will lose the lockerroom.
Do you think he can make a 180 like that?

I hope he will try, but I wonder if the players will revolt after they have been running the asylum for the last 3 years.

This is why I wanted Hill and Ramsey gone, they clearly have lost respect for McD and im worried they will be very hard to get back in line at this point.

Oh I know what I said. He is average or little above. Maybe 12-15 best in league. Which is average.
That makes us average and that is why I can only hope for Wildcard until proven otherwise.

I think we both agree the ceiling for this team is wildcard. I think my issue is I see that as the ceiling for this franchise.
I Been fan since 1984
I seen 6 division. Titles in that span. 6 division titles wtf in over 40 years.

I am just use to the wildcard thing brother.

And after the terrible years from 2003 to 2021 where we only made playoffs twice.

This part you won’t agree lol.

2022 and 2023 were pretty damn great. . Yes i am being a little sarcastic and yes it’s somewhat pathetic. But really. Those two years were best it’s been in a long time. And I don’t see it getting better with anyone
lol.

Why ? Because it never does.
lol I mean you got to laugh about it a little right?
yup sad but true

You aren’t far off in 2022 and 2023, we had the collection of players, and if all the starters made it healthy through those 2 season there’s no one that can tell me we wouldn’t have been a contender. We went all in, which was a dumb move in hindsight, but had everyone not gotten hurt I’ll go to my grave saying we were gonna make some noise. It was a still shortsighted way to build a team and wasn’t sustainable but they definitely tried.

The 4 big mistakes that would’ve made us Super Bowl contenders and put us over the hump were not tanking enough for Burrow, passing on Jefferson and Jonathan Taylor in the 2020 draft, drafting Waddle over Sewell, and trading for Chubb instead of Roquan Smith, he would’ve been a game changer. We could’ve really been so stacked and still competing.

Passing on Humphrey and Trey Smith for Eich is up there as well.

So when the team finally addresses both OG positions with actual talent, you’ll have to forgive me if I just don’t see 5-12 as a possibility.
Ifs and buts, candy and nuts ...

Tua will have to show he can endure a full season before we will know if he's a contender or a pretender.
His stats are cool, but his overall play leaves a little to be desired.

We will see if the line is the entire problem, if it is addressed with talent.

We can't even write a post about future Tua without an if involved.

I agree with the OP reference. History speaks for itself.

Like it or not, barring a 1 win season Grier isn't going anywhere, and most likely McD isn't either.

We can not commit to a full rebuild until we can get rid of Tua, and realistically we can't do that until the end of the 26 season. We are basically in limbo until then. They are not going to bring in a new GM and coach until we are able to do a complete teardown and rebuild.

After the 26 season we will have a new GM, a new head coach and a new QB, along with a lot of other new parts.

True.
I mean I like Tua. I want him to do well. But burrow. Man. Then Jefferson. Maybe just maybe.

I just feel like it never goes our way
1993. We had great team. Lose Marino and half team
1994 pretty good team. We lost Kirby and Byers and offense is not the same after.

It's like asking do you want to see SKylar Thompson lead a team to SB Championship.
It's not going to happen! He can't do that. No. You don't want to watch a sht team on a SB run.

burrow should have gone our way. this is the most annoying thing of all. all grier had to do was be on the same page with flores when he hired him. this is obvious. you figure out these things ahead of time. if you discuss it in the interview process, and flores doesn't want to go along, you hire a different coach. then we made it worse by doing two dumb things. we give up the 2nd rounder for rosen, obvious he sucked. which in theory was good, so you play him and make sure we lose, then he is worth the 2nd rounder, and you have plausible deniability bc of who he is, you say he was a former high first rounder getting his chance to develop. but no, we didn't do that. instead we sign ryan fitzpatrick (one of my favorite dolphins in recent memory bc he was such a gamer), who actually was good, and was capable of catching fire and winning us games, and putting us in position to not draft burrow. then to cap it off, we take tua over herbert. and then go all in, and not win a single playoff game, and manage to be the only team in history to get badly popped for tampering along the way, over a player we didnt even get. this organization is a joke!

Where in the hell are you two getting the impression anyone is rooting for Tua to get injured?

Just pulling things out of thin air to stand on a soap box?

And the insult thing is very real, there is a thread poll that's on this site that literally has insults as part of almost every poll option and in this thread alone the "realists" have been called flies on horseshit and trolls. How are these things not insults?

Meh, the so called realists are just as jaded......it's just in the other direction. The truth is that we're a young team with some key vets that will need to be replaced and unless all goes perfectly we won't be competing for a SB.

The team's future is nowhere near as dire as "the realists" portray it to be.

That may be true.... if we ever got a new GM, thats the whole point. Grier will never have the ability to build a Superbowl roster.

He could have 30 more years and he'd never do it.

Hypothetical question, if we were to win a super bowl THIS year, would some of you still consider that a bad thing?
you know the people that you're asking that will never consider that them winning a SB is possible, even if we've seen teams come from nowhere to win it before.
