[h=2]"When the Dolphins announced that they hired Adam Gase as their new head coach, “leader” wasn’t exactly the first word to come to mind. Although a number of high profile athletes and respected coaches around the league have praised Gase for his football intellect, he still remains somewhat of a mystery—and dare I say, he reminds me a little of Joe Philbin." :ponder:[/h]It takes more than one man to change a culture; it takes the blood, sweat, tears, and sacrifice of a lot of men to accomplish such a feat. But through this journey of change, there needs to be one man that calls the shots. There needs to be one man who unites the masses who practices what he preaches. There needs to be a leader.
You know what I’m talking about. I’m talking about the “deer in headlights” look that Gase gave in his press-conference soon after he landed the head coaching job of the Miami Dolphins; it’s the same look that Dolphins fans grew accustomed to with Joe Philbin walking the sidelines. Look, I’m not trying to attack these men solely on their physical demeanor, but in a game as violent as American football, body language goes a long way.

I don't like hire but I give it chance.. I felt like u had better coaches available pick from that was successfully in nfl. Dolphins was sorry last yr but they could beat bears. The dolphins need major overhaulin from top to bottom. I think dolphins are happy winning 6 to 8 game every year.

Agree that he has not proven anything yet, though that goes both ways. He has not succeeded nor has he failed.

I do not care at all how he looked in his first press conference at his dream job. No right or wrong way to handle such a situation in my opinion.

The one positive I will give Gase to this point is the coaching staff he has acquired, from all accounts he was able to land most of his top targets. Vance Joseph was a great get and Clyde Christensen is perfect for the role he will fill under Gase.

Adam Gase has to be considered a roll-the-dice pick, as really is the case with anyone that hasn't been a head coach at the NFL level.

At the beginning of the process, I was in favor of going with a veteran coach like Tom Shanahan for the simply reason that he's had success at the highest NFL level. That and the fact that Miami hasn't fared well going the unproven route.

That said, I do like that Gase has worked under Nick Saban and John Fox. I do feel pretty comfortable that he'll put a good offense on the field, perhaps even a great one. He's had success with quarterbacks wherever he's gone. Not sure what we'll see on defense and, as you pointed out, with leadership. Those are fair questions.

Obviously, hoping the Dolphins struck gold for a change.

what a load of piffle. whole article literally said nothing

"big bad philbin" clickbait. Praise or hammer Gase all you want, but please try find even a hint of substance for your waffle

I would never have considered Tom Shanahan....maybe his brother Mike.

Look....theres no mystery...the guy was the hottest prospect out there...he turned down the 49ers job last year.

He is a very bright young man...who has gained the respect of the league and is known for his ability to maximize a quarterbacks abilities.

Will he succeed?...Who knows?...Thats why they play the games!

Like the demeanor of a Belichick or Kubiak?

Poor reaching article.

From what I can tell of Gase, I think he knows X's and O's and he said he loves the chess match part of play calling vs defenses. I think he is smart and knows football, just not sure if being head coach is what hes good at. We will see, hopefully we will see a better team than last year.

I don't think he has done anything special with Cutler or any QB's he has coached. What he has done with them is call more running plays so a QB like Cutler has less of a chance to make a mistake. He is a conservative play caller so, we are probably going to see more field goals and less bombs from Tannehill. Boring style of football if you ask me. Kinda reminds me of the Sparano days where we were one of the best field goal kicking teams in the league lol.

He fidgeted, but I did not see deer in headlights.

I believe you are misinterpreting how Gase designs game plans. This article does a good job of explaining why that is the case.

Good God.

Lets play word analogies.

Until we know better:

JOE PHILBIN is to ADAM GASE

as

A LIT MATCH is to THE SURFACE OF THE SUN.

This is what scares the hell out of me.

Anytime anyone with knowledge of Gase is asked about his credentials for being a head coach, all they can refer to is his ability to coach QBs. That's an awesome ability, but we need so much more than that.

The Miami Dolphins currently has a poisonous culture, one steeped in mediocrity, underachievement, and poor leadership. It takes a leader of men to will that culture to change. It will take someone with the strength, charisma and knowledge to rally the entire organization, from QBs to the defense, from the ownership to the sales team. It will take more than just a quarterback whisperer to right the ship.

Will Gase be that guy? Who knows? No one (that I have heard or read, at least) has even hinted that he is that kind of guy. If all he does is make Tannehill better, then the team will still fail.

But with that said...

He's our coach. Therefore, I'm 100% behind him and pulling for him to be that guy. I just hope that history isn't set to repeat itself, again.

I am really dont know if Gase could turn this around. I want to believe. But we have seen this before. I am so tired of years of bad football. Will he lead this team to greatness?
I sure as hell won't be holding my breath waiting.
