The attitude we, as Dolfans should have...(must read for true fans)

You just shot your whole argument there...ASSUMING that anyone loves mediocrity. I mean, really??? No one loves mediocrity. Hell, I wish we could go 11-5, 12-4 EVERY year. I did my fair share of criticizing the team last season and all the recent losing seasons for that matter. There are players and coaches I wish weren't on this team at times. However, just because some of us have hope that we'll turn this around or continue to support those coaches/players doesn't mean a fan embraces mediocrity.
I'm not assuming that at all and I wouldn't consider you one of those guys because you have been critical at times. I'm talking of those guys who just tow the company line blindly and then accuse the rest of us of not being "real" fans.

It's laughable sometimes, because some of us have been fans since birth and were bouncing around the Orange Bowl and the legendary greats before these guys were even born.

i know they will root for the team tonight. If they didnt root for the team they wouldnt be here at finheaven (unless your nyjunc) but the whole "suck for luck" thing is just flat out ridiculous if you ask me. Im not saying those people arent "fans" but you do have to question it when someone flat out says they want to see their team lose to get the first pick of the draft. If it happens it happens but im not gonna root for my team to lose just to acquire the number one overall pick in next years draft. Im too much of a fan to ever even consider that. Im sorry if my opinion on these people not being "real fans" offends people but i just cant grasp how people could call themselves fans and root for the team theyre supposed to be a fan of to lose.

And im not okay with mediocrity. I see people who are pessimistic say to the optimistic people all the time that they must be okay with mediocrity or whatever. Noone is fine with mediocrity. Ive been through all the bad years with everyone else. Ive been a fan since i was born and grew up watching Marino. Im not happy about the state of the franchise. The mid-2000's were the worst. We were a talentless lost team with no direction. We went through numerous coaches. Made tons of boneheaded draft picks and signing and trades. Ive been through it all too. Im just as sick of mediocrity as everyone else. But i see this team headed in the right direction. I have hope in this team. I will always root for the fins through good and bad. Im more of an optimist at this point though. It looked alot worse a couple of years ago. We have talent on this team now. We have alot of young guys with potential. It looks alot better now than it did a few years ago.

I hear what you are saying and I agree. I could never root for my team to lose even if it is to get a great QB. I think a lot of people disagree about heading in the right direction though. I go back and forth, but it seems to me that we took a step backwards last year, and I don't really see anything that makes me think we will be any better this year. The one hope I do have though is Daboll. I didn't like the signing and still am not sold, but I am willing to give it a shot and see if he can bring our offense into the 21st century. I hope we are working at retooling the offensive line and trying to get smaller and more athletic, but the line this season just worries me quite a bit.

Anyway here's to the Dolphins and anyone who roots for the Dolphins is a friend of mine. Even if I argue with them from time to time.

Amen to that. Family disagree often, but we're still family.
