CHAN GAILEY. He had more creativity than any other OC we have had in a while.

Kippy Brown

Norv Turner

And last but not least Scott Linehan :yell:

Chan had Lamar Smith, Jay Fiedler, an unexperience Chris Chambers, Oronde Gadsden (who is awesome). Basically I am trying to say that his talent was not that superior. But he found ways to put the players in position to win games. He even made Kordell Stewart look good in Pitt.

Gailey and Mike Shula would be major upgrades to Linehan.

Linehan will never stop his pass first mentality. That is what he believes in.

Gailey had a way of getting the most out of his players and is missed by this fan.

Linehan is very creative and a very smart guy. He just gets way too damn cutesy and goes away from what he has to do. I'll give him a little time though.

I dont call double reverses and single reverses and back to back fade patterns creative.

And on another point. The 5 WR Spread formation is the worst formation this team could ever line up in. We should always have a RB in the backfield so the D has to respect it a little. Five wide is stupid.

The only REAL suspect call was the back to back throws into the sun on 1st & 2d down.

Other than that ... the majority of his big plays were open downfield ... its still an issue of execution -- we just can't seem to EXECUTE his offense.

I agree with dolfan4life Chan Gailey got production from journey men like you mentioned plus remember Leslie Sheppard had a few big games notably against the Jets on Monday Night Football.

I agree with you alot, but.....for the first time I questioned Scott today, mostly in the 3rd quarter. We have the lead and while we're not gashing their defense with rushing yards (although Ronnie ran the ball very effectively) we were showing it on a very consistent basis. In the 3rd quarter we completely abandoned that and just left our defense out to dry. You have to run take up some clock, to let a very old defense (for the most part) rest up. It just didn't make sense. I agree, with running a few more screens (although we don't bc our O-line is just so slow and heavy-legged I assume the presume it not effective) and I'd like to see running a few more times on 2nd and long, rather than going straight to the pass. We ran it a few times on 2nd and long and it was very successful.

Gailey was mediocre at best. We didnt have a great offense with him either. I like that Lineham is passing the ball. If we had a legit Quarterback this offense would be really, really good. Im not going to throw Linehan under the bus until we get someone good under center.

feidler had his best year by far and chambers arguably did too

So what? Fiedler is hurt most years and we never went anywhere with Gailey. Maybe Im missing all those big game victories and playoff wins under Gailey.
