The Reds looked awesome in their win yesterday and I think they are legit contenders to win the NL Central. Their top 2 can go toe to toe with any 1-2 punch in the National League with Aaron Harrang and Bronson Arroyo. The offense is very well balanced and everyone can punish you with the long ball. If the back end of the roation holds up, and the bull pen doesn't blow every game, this team is going to be very good. Fear the Reds this year, they play as a team and are going to win the NL Central!

Amen brother, now lets get Junior rolling.

God I hate Eric Milton:fire:

Homer Bailey is waiting in the wings, the question is will the Reds be able to wait until late may-early June to call him up?

In that one sentence, you summed up the sorry state of the National League

Meh, the NL's got some good pitching. Harang is actually in the top 5 in the majors in Wins since his debut, but no one has ever viewed him as an ace. Same with Arroyo, Arroyo was always seen as a 3rd starter at best(though his season last year has a lot to do with no DH).

Even with those two, the Reds need a third pitcher (Homer Bailey)

Never said the NL doesn't have some good aces, but in almost every case, there's a serious dropoff in the rotation after that. Oswalt, Webb, Willis, Zambrano.. among other individuals and staffs backup that claim.

In terms of the Reds, Arroyo isn't a front of the rotation guy, I've seen him enough to be confident saying that.. but the fact that those two can be in the conversation of the best 1-2 punch in the NL is very sad.

Also, teams in the NL that have better front of the rotation guys include San Diego and Los Angeles.

I would not say there's a huge drop off behind either Webb or Willis. Florida just has a very young staff, and the D-Backs have a pretty good 1-4 (even if Johnson is not the ace he was before going to New York, as a number 3, he's decent). I'll give you Oswalt,Zambrano,Glavine, and Carpenter
