The biggest problem here, is not if Culpepper should stay or go its the way its being handled by the Coaches and Front Office. Regardless if you are for or against Culpepper, the FACT of the matter is Daunte has a lot of friends and supporter on this team a few guys have come out in support of Culpepper most notably Jason Taylor who spoke out at the banquet a few weeks back, The problem i have is not that Cam and the front office have decided to go another way its the way its being done. Telling the guy he isnt going to get any reps and having him excorted off the field in front of his teammates is just as bad as have Steve Mcnair locked out of the Titans facility last year. Now im not saying that Culpepper means and has done as much for the Dolphins as McNair did for the Titans but the fact is a lot of guys on this team support Daunte and i think the way this is all being handled is going to cause problems with some of the guys buying into the new coaching staff. Its going to make guys think "Is this how I am going to be treated when they are done with me?" Now i know the guys understand its a business and people are let go and traded all the time. But being treated like a dog and embarressed in front of your teammates is not part of the business, now regardless if you like or hate Culpepper, think he is good or is washed up or think he is being a cry baby, or a hypocrite or whatever, the truth is since the day he became a Dolphin he has been in the weight room rehabbing and trying to get better and working his butt off, and the guys in the locker room who know that better than any of you or me, Can't be happy with the way all of this is going down.

and this would not fit in the other 30 threads on the same subject???

Do you guys suggest we keep him and eat his salary just to be nice guys as compared to doing what is best for the team??

No, but I would prefer that he be given an honest chance to to stay with the team.

No im not suggesting they should keep him, i suggesting they should have kept their intensions more quite, if it means keeping Culpepper in the dark about their intension so be it, keep quiet and try and get a trade partner, and if he wants to come to practice and ride the bike or throw some passes let him, but dont make a media circus out of it and dont have him escorted off the field in front of team.

i agree we need to handle this differently. **** like this happens all the time tho. Its just hott news right now. daunte i believe will start again in his career but he is no longer a dolphin. Daunte being treated like that isnt really that bad as it seems tho. He was traded to the jaguars but refuses to be traded. he put alot into getting him ready, and he jumped up way to early to start. its not our fault he is going through this, its his knee. Trent Green is the quarterback of the miami dolphins. Now lets get him some much needed reps with the playbook and recievers!

I full on agree crznick... todays events were weak.. daunte has doing nuthing but try to get back to his old self. to all the bashers u try playing football with 3 torn ligs on ur knee. it takes time. he will rip it up soon. dont get me worng im excited to see trent out there but i think daunte deserves his shot to go battle green cause were going to lose him 4 nuthing. midaswell see if he can kill it brfore giving him away free.

I am not bashing him but the NFL is a business and he knows that. I was hoping Daunte would be what he once was in Minny but it is not meant to be in Miami and we need to move on. I do agree we should grant him his release. BUT....the NFL won't allow a player to be released while injured without the releasing team getting stuck with his entire salary correct??

I think we should have never traded for Green. I think that if we should have stuck witha 6th rounder. Take it or leave it. Let them eat 7.2 million dollars for Green, and I would have let either Cleo, Daunte, or Beck fight it out. Then if Green got cut, or they give in to a 6th rounder then id let them fight it out of course and the best man win. I think the least thing we could have done was let Culpepper battle it out in training camp.

daunte is being p**** about all of this i can wait tell he is out of here

Man I can't wait for the season to start and all these guys crying over spilt milk have moved on because this Marino-like worship of Daunte Culpepper is foundationless and getting quite sickening. He wasn't drafted by us. He never bled Dolphin colors. All he did was rehab and some of you are acting like the man cured cancer or cornered Gene Upshaw into giving retired NFL veterans a better pension. He was a failed risk that lasted a whopping single season. Big deal. Wallowing and venting over all that? What a waste of time.

Th dolphins can't stop him from personal training and workouts. However, they can stop him from team practice. If he were to get hurt Miami would have to pay his 2007 salary.

I'm pretty sure he wasn't escorted like a prisoner, just assisted off to stop and problems with he could create for the team.

This scenario is frustrating for all, however, it's the business side of the NFL. DC is caught in the middle. He will recover and be given a chance with another team. However, Cam doesn't feel he's the QB for his offensive system.

Cam was hired to turn the offense around. He doesn't run a Minnesota Style offense, he runs a mixture of Zampese and West Coast offenses. For this offense you need a QB with high intelligent and can make the fast read to dump the ball when he has to. Cam apparently doesn't feel DC can do this.

I wish him all the luck in the world. However, I agree with Cam and think Green is the best QB for the time being.

Man, from the draft to the Duante Culpepper saga. I hope I'm wrong but I have a bad feeling about the immediate future of the Miami Dolphins. I'm too used to the organization handling things quietly and without controversy. Since Wayne took over it's been anything but, starting with the Jimmy Johnson hiring.

A-Man, very well said. They could have given the guy a fair chance.

1) "Telling the guy he isnt going to get any reps and having him excorted off the field in front of his teammates" and "But being treated like a dog and embarressed in front of your teammates is not part of the business," -- Cpep was not 'escorted' off the field. The locker room where he wanted to go to was locked...Stu opened it for him...Cpep was the one who decided to come inside and workout, not the Fins ...he wasn't treated like a dog...that's the way it was reported initially before we got Stu's and Cpeps explanation of the situation.
2) He's worked hard, supposedly, but he hasn't responded to that hard work at all. He hasn't been able to play effectively and we've paid him as if he were playing effectively. What is classless or bad about the Fins treating him that way ???
3) I agree that it has become a mess, but it's more because of Cpeps whining about the situation than it is about how Cam has treated him. The bottom line is that the situation can only be resolved by releasing him, but when that happens, it won't be fair to the Fins at all...we gave up the pick and and salary for the season and have gotten nothing but whining and complaining by Cpep without any results...what's so bad about that ???

Then, while Daunte, Lemon, and Beck are fighting it out, it becomes clear that Daunte's knee isnt fully healed (just like last year), which the doctors promptly confirm. League rules say you cant cut a player while he is injured so now WE are the ones having to eat 6 million dollars.

Without Green it might have been worth rolling the dice on Culpepper's knee. With Green, its a no-brainer to let Culpepper go...and also to keep him off the field in the meantime so that there is no risk of injury.
