Is it me, or ever since the Bye Week was started Miami has almost ALWAYS had it very early in the season. I think this years bye week could not have come at a WORSE time. This team just got its first win, and has all this energy, plus no significant injuries to report of what so ever. This team wants to get back on the field badly. Do they have a formula for bye weeks? Does the AFC East always go first? I think it sucks this year.

its good, actually. they get a great win heading in to it and now can have a fun 2 weeks at practice and not have the winless season looming. after the first 3 weeks, this newly constructed team can take a breath and evaluate themselves and work on things. players get more time to gel and get timing of pays down. it also gives them 2 weeks to prepare for the toughest test so far, the Chargers.

The bad part - it's good to have a bye later in the season as players wear down.

The good part - after this Sunday, we can look forward to 13 STRAIGHT Sundays of Phins football.

i'd rather see the bye weeks be on the 8th and 9th weeks of the season. half the teams on the 8th and the other half on the 9th.

I guess, especially with how grueling the NFL season is. But i think it's good for Miami to have a bye now, with the "stop the bleeding Patriots game" over. This team could very well have been looking at 0-3 headed in to the bye, now they are 1-2, hopefully the bye gives them time to build off an impressive victory.

An interesting point, I like it. Has it been discussed before? Maybe by the players association, I could see them pushing it.

With regards to having a BYE after our first win of the season, I see it as a good thing.

Yes, we can prepare well for SD but I think the real benefit is that the players and coaching staff will in a better state mentally. After their first win I think the team would be a little too over-confident in their abilities. They're largely a new bunch of guys not used to playing with each other still. It will be an up and down season so I feel the chance to settle down and focus would be of greater benefit over a team on an emotional high.

Of course, that's just my humble opinion.

not sure that the networks would ever allow that.

Yeah they wouldn't, i'd assume they wake much more money with so many games on each weekend rather than only playing eight games for two weeks straight. That would kill half the NFL fan base for those two weeks. People in 16 cities across the country not watching games.
