I just don't understand this.

What is this for, he ended up right where Sparano wanted him, around 25 carries. But who the hell cares how many carries he has. He averaged 5-6 yards a carry, scored a TD, probably would have scored another one without the HB pass idiocy. Are you seriously telling me they want to keep him fresh for the future?

WHAT FUTURE!?

There is NO tomorrow. Our season is OVER because we lost today. Our season before today was game by game, a loss would have crippled us. You pull out all the stops, you give it to Ricky 40 times, who the hell cares!

I don't think we lost because we didn't give it to Ricky enough, but i definitely think our decision making in the second half was geared towards not over working Ricky. Look at that drive from our own goal line. I just don't understand.

Because they want Ricky around for next year. Is that hard to understand?? Remember when he use Wannstache had him carry the ball 40 to 50 times a day??? How did Ricky respond to that?? Ready for him to retire this year??? Because if that happens he could think about leaving us midseason this year and obviously Tuna and Co want him around next year.

Eh i guess. I mean i know Ricky didn't like to be abused, but surely he understands that he is our best chance to win football games. Would he really leave in protest because we gave him a few games of 30-35 carries during a run at the playoffs? Especially with Ronnie out.

imo he hasnt been carrying the ball 40-50 times all year imo if it takes him to win the buffaloe game just one game and it was our playoffs on the line than hell yes i would have runned him into the ground cause imo thats what he gets paid for to win us games when we really need him it was our season on the line sooo yes just this game i would have runned him into the ground. now we dont need him to run 40-50 times the rest of the year cause we are done:boohoo:

Well, he's quit because he got too many carries before.

A runningback.....Getting too many carries....Yeah.

Anyways, he's not a spring chicken, and, playing football hurts.

Here's the reality, gents; We don't have a feature back. This is why we can't pay Ronnie like one, and, why we can't pay Ricky like one.

If we have to limit carries for RW, why do we need him?

His job is to carry a football.

If he doesn't like it he should quit again.

I agree Goon, but at the same time i understand where Ricky is coming from worrying about taking a beating. I just would think he'd understand that this team needs him (or needed him) now and wouldn't have any objection to carrying the ball 30-35-40 times.

At one time my job was being a soldier. I understood that it might mean me getting dead. I was ok with that because I signed up to be a soldier, understanding that it may, one day, wind up in me missing arms, legs, eyes, or my life.

If he's worried about taking a beating he needs to leave. That's his job.

I left when the potential results of my job were unacceptable to me.

If he wants to play and not get hurt, he needs to learn how to kick.

where are you getting this from ?

he's never whined about having too much or not enough carries, the only thing he ever said was when he "retired" in 2004, he told 60 minutes he should have the right to retire whenever it pleases him

he said something like "when is it ok to retire ? when my knees run out ? when my elbows or shoulders run out ? " (something like that)

and i perfectly agree with him

but as far as whinning because he has too many carries, you're just making up a story with no substance whatsoever, sparano believes there's an optimal snap count for him, not ricky, tony.

I don't even know what you are talking about. Do you not pay any attention at all to how I feel about RW?

BTW, I don't blame RW at all for the loss today. He played like a warrior AFAIC.

My point is; If we have to be worried about his carry count, we don't need him.

for the salary he gets, and the production we get out of him, i'd take 3 or 4 of those running backs on my team, no doubt about it

Thing is Ricky wasn't signed to be a feature back. They signed him for depth, quality depth imo. And they could have ran him alot more today, but by PITT or w/e game, if he hit a ceiling...what would be said then?

Ricky has played very well the last 2 games. He has earned the accolades and admiration that most give him. I wish to see him after this year, hence I agree w/ the 20 touches a game. Hilliard should have been out there more imo. But oh well...it is what it is.

You have to keep Ricky at 25 carries of less, especially when Ronnie is not coming back this season.......My problem is why not mix up the rushes with Hillard earlier in the game? How can he go into halftime with one carry? If this continues Ricky will be sitting next to Ronnie watching the game.....
