Chad Henne has really established himself as our QB of the future. He is accurate, careful with the ball, and seems to be a fearless leader. However, Henne is lacking the tools that many other QBs have at their disposal. While Camarillo, Bess, Hartline, Ginn (and the tight ends) all are good enough to move the chains with 5-20 yard gains, they simply do not possess the ability to break tackles and gain yards after the catch. With our receivers, the end of the play is essentially where the ball ended up being caught after Henne threw it. Sure, Bess gets a couple YAC, but not nearly enough. Guys like Desean Jackson, Andre Johnson, any Colts or Chargers Wr, or even Crabtree (he had that nice catch and run tonight) do not exist on Miami's roster. There is much talk that Henne has not shown that he can lead this team fully because he cannot throw down the field. Well that is true. But he cannot throw down the field because we do not have the right WRs. We need guys like Steve Smith of the Panthers who can turn 5 yard passed into 40 yd gains, or who the Qb can trust to come down with the ball (MAtt Moore's prayer throw up for Smith's TD comes to mind). If we can go out and get these types of guys, Henne would be getting more help. He would be throwing more TDs and for more yards. I like the guys we have I really do. I just think they need to be supplemented with true THREAT Wrs. These guys are good enough to get the job done, but no one is scared of them. After we go out and get a couple of true playmakers on offense-- guys Henne is on the same page with, we will be a force to be reckoned with. We will have that guy who can get us big plays or even act as a decoy and draw double teams all game (R. Moss) which forces other guys to get open. Then, Bess, Camarillo, and Hartline will be PERFECT reliable role players in our offense.

Camarillo and Bess are what they are. They are not fooling anyone. The team knows it and so does everyone in the front office. If it looks like a pig and smells like a pig then it is a pig. Hartline is too raw yet to see his end potential but he isn't going to be a number one. He is on his way to becoming a solid 3 at this point. That is the problem, we have plenty of solid number 3 wideouts.

Our biggest concern really is the lack of the tight end. If we had a pro bowl tight end, that would really make bess and camarillo look better than they are. It is amazing how guys develop into solid number 2 wideouts when they have someone across the field to garner double coverage. We don't have that and it shows.

Bess and camarillo aren't fooling anyone. Bess has more upside but his lack of height and speed really limit his ceiling. Of the two guys, bess is the "better" wideout as he has that "wes welker" type of elusiveness at times.

I am confident we will get the wr and tight end positions addressed in the offseason. Surely they cannot ignore a pressing need any longer.

while I agree...its kind of like beating a dead horse...we know we need a true #1 WR..and I think we will get one through FA or the draft this offseason

I didn't just mean a #1. I meant other receivers who can get some yards. Someone like Harvin.. You know hes not going to be a #1 but he is a great!!! number 2 or 3 and is a homerun hitter who doesn't ever stop making people miss and taking em to the house

Miami already has one of those type of WR on their roster. Unfortunately, he drops the football 9 times out of 10 when it's thrown to him.

I would like to see chad once in a while help himself and run for the first down. Now im not talkin about takin risks like Sanchez does but there have been numerous times this season on 3rd and not too long hes had an "open field" and fires it into coverage or away. Get the 3 yrds, get down, move the chains.

The effort from our receivers isn't there, I'd agree there. Bess had a chance to dive and catch that deep pass last week and just jogged at the end. I don't see much fighting for extra yardage, dudes just go down as soon as there's a little contact. Ginn, we already know that dude is a female dog so won't even touch there.

Again how can you expect the "effort" to be there when they guys are giving us what they have. It is like buying a grand am and racing a corvette and complaining because you got beat. Open your eyes. They are what they are. You cannot expect Bess to get much YAC (Consequently I already posted a thread about this) because he runs the 40 slower than some linebackers. Same goes for Camarillo. Ginn cannot catch. Fasano is all but worthless as a receiver.

Here is my thread a week or so ago about YAC..

Bess showed what he is capable of in the NE game. If he had someone like Randy Moss to attract attention from defenses, I think Bess has the potential to be better than Welker, at last from a physical ability standpoint. While Welker has Bess beat on instincts, Bess has a definite size and athleticism advantage on Welker.

I really want to read this post....I really do...but everytime I open it the lack of paragraphs make me leave, lol. :)
