I have been one of the most optimistic people on this board when it came to the fins playing good and having a good record, but fellow fins fans if the CBA doesn't get done Even I will have to say that 06 is probably a wash. Too much the Phins would have to lose to just get barely under, and just to not be able to gain that much because they still won't have enough money to make a splash in Free Agency, and who knows if they will even be able to afford all of their draft picks, so it doesn't look good!!! BUT........ All is not lost here, we will prbably end up with a very young team in 06, and I'm sure we will find a couple of gems that we might not have found otherwise, and then in 07 we Should be major major players in Free Agency.

Now it doesn't look like we will be able to get Brees, and we will probably wind up cutting Frerotte to clear some cap space, and we will need a cheap QB for this year so how about signing.........Rosenfels??? He will be cheaper than Ramsey, and I know, I know, we had him for a few years and he couldn't even crack the lineup etc... etc... But the guy showed that he could play this past year and he would probably come very cheap, and he already has some chemistry with the WR's and if the system pretty much stays the same then he has a good handle on that as well. Some of us have been wondering for years what Sage could do as the full time starter, and this would be the perfect year to find out, and don't tell me that we saw him start a game and he played horrible because.......SO WHAT!!! He had his first start and he played bad, how many QB's play good their first start??? He also played very very well every other time he got into a game, and the biggest knock you could possibly have on the guy for how he played last season was that HE won us two games, and if he didn't it would have saved us 10 Million dollars towards the cap in 06 because of the extra incentives earned for having a winning season.

You're correct, but you're going to irritate the Sabanites who believe that every move Saban makes is perfect as well as the Frerotte supporters who apparently didn't watch last season.

I have a feeling Brodie Croyle may be starting in 2006 if this CBA isnt extended.

This is another good possibility as well that I failed to mention. I have always Hated the idea of starting a Rookie QB, because most of the time it basically means doom for that season. But this may be a very good year to do that. If we get a guy in the draft who Saban feels could be the future(Croyle, or maybe Jacobs) then it wouldn't be a bad idea to start them and just ride out the good and the bad times to get him more ready for 07.

Re:

I wouldn't be opposed to starting Sage for monetary reasons. He should perform as well, if not better than any rookie we could get. I know we have been neglecting the QB position since Marino's third season, but having money to solidy the line and the secondary with a lateral move at QB, might put us in a great position for next season.

next season is being juggled up in the air. Nothing is granted.

I think that there will be plenty of viable veteran options out there at reasonable prices......only about 1/2 the teams will have any sort of cap room, and not all of them will need QB's. So, most the vet QB's out there will be looking for jobs from teams who can't afford a lot. So while we may not get Brees, a Steve McNair, Aaron Brooks, Patrick Ramsey type may now make sense. While I'm not overly excited about any of those options, I like them more than Rosenfels (or an unprepared rookie).

Well said, I can respect that. I just think Sage should be an otion as well.
