A 40-minute interview session with three South Florida reporters also revealed the following:

-- Huizenga appears to have made an unsuccessful last-ditch effort to keep Saban from leaving by offering a contract extension.

-- Saban struggled getting on the same page with the two general managers (Rick Spielman and Randy Mueller) he worked with at the Dolphins.

-- If Saban declined the job, Alabama Athletic Director Mal Moore was set to offer it to Louisville coach Bobby Petrino following the Cardinals' Fed-Ex Orange Bowl game against Wake Forest.

-- Saban regrets saying he was "not going to be the University of Alabama coach" when pressed on the issue two weeks ago during a Dolphins news conference. But Saban also said he feels he is a "little bit of a victim" because there was no answer he could give that would effectively end speculation about his coaching future.

No answer....how about I'm under contract with the Dolphins....of course you could of said...I have no intention of going to Alabama and meant it.

No sympathy for Saban, this mess was his own fault-especially if he was the one putting out feelers as new rumors are saying.

Why would Petrino go coach there? Hes got a good program going in Louisville, why go to a crappier one?

Glad Waynes last ditch effort failed, we will be better off without the Nicktraitor.

Saban can spin it any way he wants, he's still a gutless coward LOSER at the end of the day and he has to know it too.

Hey Nick, how about a "no comment" if you couldn't come up with an answer. I find it hard to believe, that someone who has a way of words cannot find an answer to a question you KNEW would come.

if you read his answer carefully, he lies even in explaining how he didn't lie. In one part he says something like 'how could I answer that question and not have it be a distraction,' meaning essentially that the answer wasn't really "No" because THAT would have meant no distraction and he was searching fr a way to obscure the truth, that he actually was interested in it. Then he said something like 'circumstances changed after the last game and so when I said yes and took the job, I wasn't lying' -this implies that he WASN'T considering the job before the end of the season when his previous answer shows that he clearly WAS.
It also beggars belief that he believes fans are so stupid and naive that we would believe a forty million dollar contract (or whatever it was) was negotiated in a day, or less, an hour or two. Utter crap.
My guess is he knew this is what he wanted to do a month or two ago and was negotiating the contract and his carefully staged exit ("Will I go? Won't I go? Alas! I'm such a tortured soul! What will I do?") through his agent.
The guy is a classless loser. Probably a good salesman or presenter though, hence a good recruiter and also interviews well.
Not the guy I want as coach of my team

Man, what a scum-bag. To take the victims route. He obviously will never "get it". He is the type of guy who cheats on his wife with 3 different women, than when he gets caught whines,
"Ohhhhh, but you don't understand!:boohoo: When I was 6 years old I caught my dad with another woman, while mom was grocery shopping! It really hurt me, and pained me deeply.:boohoo: I'm wounded, and it's societies fault, not mine. I'm a victim!"
He will never have a conscience because he is a "victim", and in his mind people simply can't understand how tough his life is...:boohoo: his mind will ALWAYS rationalize his decisions, to twist and contort it to fit the decision's he WANTS to make, and not necessarily what is right. I have zero respect for him... none.
