Interesting read..............

"The famous report surfaced after the draft via ESPN's Adam Schefter that the knee was actually "bone on bone". This according to some of the teams doctors that had examined him prior to the draft.
It's unknown how many teams had their doctors examine him on an individual basis but many of the reports that surfaced claimed to be based on a medical recheck performed at the Indianapolis Scouting Combine. The problem with those reports is that Ajayi did not attend any medical rechecks at the combine. Ajayi's agent, Erik Burkhardt, confirmed via Twitter that he did not and was never even asked to attend the recheck."

very real, but not short term, its not a normal injury.

which is why it annoys me when beat reporters tweet that he isnt wearing a knee brace etc

Ajayi wouldn't of necessarily been asked to return to Indianapolis for a medical recheck . . . the injury is widely known already and he's been dealing with it for 4 years.

Medical rechecks have more to do with stuff that isn't known or that shows up during the process . . . or starting to show up. Also more recent injuries that may cause problems during drills at the combine.

He dropped to the 5th round . . . with this injury being the primary reason why.

he isn't injured. he has some deterioration in the knee stemming from the injury he suffered in 2011. he has played with this condition for the past four seasons. eventually it may take a toll, but as of now he isn't "an injured player."

Yea the injury is real but will not be an issue for 4 years at least

The concerns are real ... But, they're FUTURE concerns.

These people cover football for a living, you would think they would have a basic understanding of cartilage deteriation, arthritis, and knee replacement

4 years? Injuries can happen at any moment. How did Fowler Jr. get injured? He was not even touched
Doesn't change the fact that his knee condition will hold up for 4 to 6 years. Of course another kind of injury can always happen

Pretty sure thats not the point he was making .

Obviously anyone can get hurt at any time .

What I heard from a guy who specializes in this stuff is that it can be a huge problem or no issue. He mentioned exceptions who had played very well with that condition.

But trust teams to do their due diligence, I'm certain it's a big risk.

he was a 5th-round pick. there is a medical red flag for sure, but if the knee doesn't hold, it's not a huge investment.

Its a non issue. Playing careers of runningbacks are only like 3-4 years anyways. Even the ones that stay in the league for more wear down. Look at chris johnson. He went from cj 2k to cj barely over 1k yards and last year he didnt even pass 700. Runningbacks lose production and the ones that do have long careers usually only have 2-4 years in their "prime" lets just hope jays prime is in his first few years rather than later
