Watching last night's game left me seriously depressed when I realized the dearth of talent between those two teams and the Dolphins. It really isn't going to be a short turnaround for this team. The main reason there are so many upset people on this board is that their expectations were too high to start with. I cut this from a Greg Stoda article on PBP.
"A former Dolphin still close to the team, for example, suggested to a few writers recently that he thinks Miami has no more than a small knot of players on the current roster who ought to be counted upon to be valuable contributors four or five years from now. His alphabetical list included Chad Henne, Kendall Langford, Jake Long, Phillip Merling, Samson Satele and Donald Thomas." At least the fact that almost all of these guys cam from our most recent draft is some comfort.

Hmm Zach Thomas perhaps? I really hope he gets him a ring with Dallas..even though I'm not a Dallas fan.

Dallas got this good because of Bill parcells. Eagles got that good because of smart drafting, which bill parcells does. We'll be back in 2 years(hopefuly)

Thing that was hard to watch for me was how effective DeSean Jackson is. I don't care what anyone says if we wanted to utilize Ted Ginn the way Philly uses Jackson it'd be very possible.

It's funny, I was thinking the same thing when I was watching it. In fact, the difference between our teams is the size of the Grand Canyon. Watching Miami the last few years almost made me forget what great athletes some of these guys are. I mean, wow - T.O., McNabb, Felix Jones, DeMarcus Ware...they all looked absolutely ripped, huge, whatever... We are so far away from that level of football, it's absolutely ridiculous.

I was in complete awe. And this isn't a rip on our team. It just, for the first time, made me realize HOW FAR we are away from that level of competition.

That was exactly my impression. It was depressing but at least we know we're on the right road even if it doesn't seem that way now. But I don't see us being competitive for a couple years.

I'm jealous. These teams played a great game and the Dolphins play such an ugly game of football. Watching this team throw 3 yard passes to the sidelines is depressing and boring. It's been so long since this team had anything that resembled a real NFL offense.
