Now boys and girls this is nothing like Bill Simmons bashing culpepper for fantasy. However i have found a trend that i hope to be true in order for him to be successful next year, in which i think he will. Culpepper has a career passer rating of 90.8 with a 64.2 completion percentage and a td - int ratio that makes me smile at 137 - 89. Daunte is a streaky player indeed, with a pattern of his years going 2 good years and 2 not so good years then 2 good years, and now we are in year two of not so goood. ill lay out the stats below so you can follow along.

QB Rating Comp % TD INT Yards
99 - rookie, 1 game no passes(learning the system thats cool)
00 - 98 62.7 33 16 3937
01- 83.3 64.2 14 13 2612
02- 75.3 60.7 18 23 3853
03- 96.4 65 25 11 3479
04- 110.9 69.2 39 11 4717
05- 72 64.4 6 12 1564
06- 77 60.4 2 3 929

i count his rookie year to be good because its the rookie year, some greats dont play some crap play to start, rookie year is just a big learning process, and 00 he looked good from learning all 99.

Then comes 01 and 02, with 85.3 and 75.3 passer ratings, with more interceptions thrown then touchdowns in the two years, his yards were up and down both years, but yards never seem to be a concern.

then comes his famous years in 03 and 04, in which 04 tore it up getting praised as a qb to pick over peyton. with his 96.4 and 110.9 ratings. his yards of 4717 one year or his 39 touchdowns and 11 picks. he played very well indeeed.

and that leaves us with what we see now 05 and 06, we see the 72 and 77 qb rated qb in daunte and i believe next year will be his 07 year in which he does well, and hell be great in 08' because his number is 8.

so lets get him healthy rested and learning our system like in 99... and then get rolling again:dolphins:

Not sure what to think about him but from what i seen boy did we screw up...I keep whatching brees throw td and it makes me cry....

cant hate yourself for that, i wanna see brees put up 39-11 then ill cry ok.

I think the trend has more to do with the status of the offensive lines he's played with. When he has time to go through his progessions he's very effective.

a lot of people attribute his success to moss. i think its more him having time to throw, he needs a good o-line.

Man I'm with you on that one.

Another blundered personell decision by the modern Dolphins.

Water under the bridge and nothing we can do now.
Just have to hope Culpepper comes back and regains some of the form from his 3 good seasons.

On another note I remember how anyone who wanted Brees and our draft pick over Culpepper were absolutely ridiculed. So many laughing that we thought a QB with a shoulder injury would be ready to play over a QB with ONLY a knee injury.

Never mind that the QB with the knee injury's entire game depends on scrambling around and extending plays.

I agree with EAZY 0. Although Moss will help anyone be a better qb... Culpepper has also always held the ball a little too long. The years when Minnesota had probowlers on the O-line, CPep looked great.

In 2005, the Vikings lost those pro-bowl o-linemen to FA (they also lost Moss). After watching cpep in Miami, I'd say that the crappy o-line of Minn in 2005 had more to do with his bad play than the loss of Moss.

i'm with you eazy-o like i said before harrington is a good backup period, culpepper is going to be the starter, his has the history to prove it, harrington doesn't , and i sick and tired of people talking about how we messed up not picking brees, people forget especially some of these miami sports writers that brees wanted dam near 65 mil coming of an shoulder injury, brees went for the money to go to the saints, i hate hearing those statements

People also forget he had Cris Carter to throw too.

im not debating the fact that he had great WRs around him...

and even if thats the case, that the WRs made culpepper good...shouldnt we just trade up to get calvin johnson, then let culpepper set some records???

Actually, in 2005 they lost their All-Pro center Birk to injury. He really has just looked average coming back this year.

Nat Dorsey was traded to the Browns for center help in Melvin Fowler.

David Dixon retired after the Vikings didn't want him back. He stayed in Minnesota and when the Vikings try to gauge his interest in returning in September 2005 he said "No thanks".

Chris Liwienski was still on the team until getting cut in TC this year.

They really lost the pro-bowl guys - Christy, McDaniel, Steussie, Stringer - long before 2005.

Hindsight is 20/20....I think the people wanting Culpepper over Brees, at the time based on where their injuries were, was justified.

Based on what?

The most renowned orthopedic Dr. in sports gave Brees his blessing as being ready. Weren't justified at all and it's proven by how this season has gone.

The whole $$$ situation was a smoke screen in the whole process.

It's been revealed by many sources that it all came down to Miami's medical staff doubting James Andrew's assessment that Brees was going to be ready to go AND their belief that Culpepper would be ready to go.

They were dead wrong on both counts.
