I expected our D to be awesome this year, they were AWFUL. Look I know all of the hate towards out LB's fine but our so called strength on the DL was a major disappointment. Wake is awesome but we got run all over this year and couldn't get to the QB when we needed to. Also other than Grimes & Patterson when he played the DB's were average and Jones had a terrible year after the contract. Then we draft Jordan this dynamic playmaker & we barely play him. I really felt this D was going to be dominant but they just didn't get the job done this year. I understand the bashing of the offense but let's not forget the talent we have on the D as well.

Look I knew Tannehill would continue to have his ups & downs although I was hoping for a better year but add the OL issues & injuries to Keller, Gibson, & even Hartline in the last game I wasn't to surprised but IMO I still think he can be special & will support him.

The D wasn't awful. The pass defense was good for the most part and the run defense was bad. I would say our defense was pretty decent.

It certainly wasn't great like some are making it out to be, but offense was the bigger problem for the most part.

the people complaining about the D do not watch other nfl football games. is our D elite? no. is it awful? not close. how many times did this D give up 30 points despite being on the field so much because of our 3 and out offense? look at the scores around the league week in and week out. our D was not the problem this year.

You're the one who appreciates a good al 0 point game

the situational play of the defense was poor for the most part all season...thats what happens in a 43 when you have crap lbs...

And when you're stunting you're linemen like you have some sort of nervous condition when they're good enough to win one on one most of the time.

there was a lot of that also and if the lbs dont fill properly or are late you are toast...i've seen some bad lb play this year but most of that was depth guys being forced to start due to injury and sucking around the league but our damn starters were brutal...those 2 every down lbs i mean awful stuff...

you might get by with one bad lb but you better have another to take up the slack and make some instinctual plays...ours are the worst...now just imagine if our depth had to start at some point...just an awful lb core pretty much top to bottom...misi and trash...only depth guy worth investing further in is jenkins and he shows little to no instincts other than his primary assignment in a certain package...ie cover the back

I would have to agree that the run defense, Linebacker play in particular and the pass rush was certainly below my expectations.....however pass D was improved and so was the turnover situation. I don't know what happened to our "D" line, as they didn't show up during key periods of the season, but they weren't horrible.

The biggest problem was our inability to score points. Too many 3 and outs and left the defense out there for long stretches of time.

The biggest disappointment was that we were all right back in the summer that Miami had failed to address the O-line properly, and that we knew we'd be in trouble there. It's disappointing to have a whole fan base know more than the GM, and that the owner is just too myopic or worse to see what was hiding in plain sight.

I don't disagree at all that the defense was a disappointment. It certainly wasn't the biggest. However, there is NO question that our defense, as a whole, has digressed under Coyle. In only two seasons we went from 3rd against the run to being painfully bad - somewhere along the lines of 26th in the league. This is definitely unacceptable. Coyle has been overlooked as an issue in light of Sherman's ineptitude leading the offense. ONE, he makes no adjustments to put this defense in position to succeed. TWO, our personnel is WAY better suited for the 3-4 - something Coyle obviously has no clue how to run. This is another change that should, and NEEDS to be made. Will it? WE can only hope so. We'll see.

The whole season was a slow-motion disaster. We all knew that we would fail is 'x' happened, and of course, 'x' happened and we failed. That was what makes it hurt so bad and continue to hurt with every day that Ireland/Philbin/Sherman are still employees of the Miami Dolphins.

Miami Defense was ranked #8 in points allowed.

Miami Offense was ranked #26 in points scored.

The problem wasn't the defense.

team got torched by screens cause the lbs couldn't read the blockers up front or sniff em out...just gashed by screen games with qbs who sucked as pocket passers...inexcusable

terrible between and off tackle vs the run game clean to the ball lb play...terrible...

How many times was our D gutted in the run game?
How many times when our O would squeak out a lead,to watch the D,on the next drive tie or take the lead.
How many other teams linebackers got run over for a TD by Geno Smith?
