Whether you call this a soft rebuild, a total rebuild, or business as usual, difference makers can always define a draft. For Miami's purposes who are the potential difference makers, those players who move the needle? I thought I'd identify two per round, through four rounds. After that, I think it's more appropriate to call them sleepers. These are also players who realistically could be available.
1 (13) James Pearce and Ty Warren
Simply put, you can't teach the speed and explosion of Pearce, who looks like a double-digit sack artist. The Dolphins have Phillips, Chubb and Robinson so Pearce likely isn't in play. But thinking long-term, his addition would make a lot of sense as both Phillips and Chubb have dealt with injuries and pass rushers are crucial to any team's success. Character issues have been brought up with Pearce and that needs to be looked into. Warren is a do-everything tight end who even played quarterback in a wildcat role for Penn State (a Kelce type). He has that dog in him. Looking at the damage these great tight ends are doing league-wide, I don't think you can automatically dismiss Warren. He would be a weapon in any NFL offense.
2 (48) Shavon Revel and Jalen Milroe
Before his injury, Revel was talked about as a top 15 prospect. I think it's about 50/50 that he makes it to 48. A 6-3 corner with 4.4 speed, he would be a nice addition opposite of Ramsey. I know many would call Milroe a waste of a pick and they could be right. He's the ultimate gamble on greatness in this draft. Milroe's elite talent is his running ability, but his accuracy is a big question. Can he reach his ceiling and become a Hurts type, or simply be a gadget short-yardage/WC quarterback? For Miami, Milroe could make a ton of sense since Tua's durability is a real issue. We know McDaniel loves speed and Milroe would give him one of the most athletic quarterbacks in the NFL. Plus, Miami needs another Jalen!
3 (98) Hollin Pierce and Savion Williams
Once again, you can't teach 6-8 340 with the wingspan Pierce possesses. For such a big man, his feet look quick and he has played both LT and RT, adding to his appeal. Williams comp has been Deebo Samuel. With Hill likely gone after 2025, I think adding a wide receiver is important.
4 (116 & 135) Damien Martinez, Riley Leonard, Terrance Ferguson, Oronde Gadsden
Martinez feels like the perfect big back complement to Achane and Wright. There are a few of these in this draft. Leonard has a lot of upside, but hasn't put it all together yet. Ferguson may go before R4 but is a nice TE option. Gadsden I view as more of a big wide receiver. He has the hands and the ability to win 50/50 plays.
