There is nothing more divisive in a football locker room than a quarterback controversy. As crippling and pernicious plagues go, only a full-flown player mutiny is worse for a team than an uncertain balance between quarterbacks.

The friction a QB controversy causes affects the offense, defense and coaching staff. It divides fans. It corrodes loyalties at every level.
It's bad, folks.

Which is a reason you should be thrilled Chad Pennington is the Dolphins starting quarterback today.

Having watched Pennington from afar for years while he was with the Jets, it amazed me how he never let the quarterback controversy he operated under his final two seasons in New York affect him in the least. The guy was a pro's pro.

Pennington never made any secret of the fact he wanted to be the starter. He competed hard but never stepped on anyone's toes, least of all his coaches or the other guys he was competing against. They have a word for that in my country: Classy.

That guy is the quintessential leader of the Miami Dolphins. He's right up there with Dan in terms of competitive fire and taking charge of your team, even more so with the defensive guys. I love him!

Don't think so. He came in a did the job he was asked to do. But he is a stop gap player brought in for 2 years. Let's see if he does something history says he won't, and that is to stay healthy.

Uh.. Chad did WAY more than he had to for us.

No matter what he has been the qb that we have had in that spot since marino and we have a better chance of winning with him at this time then anyone else on the roster.....

Awesome Video...

Side-note... you gotta love Ginn being fired up after making that catch around the 2:50 mark.... "Keep throwin 'em to me!"

Doesn't sound like you read anything I wrote. I didn't say that he would rewrite the Dolphins record books. I said that as far as leadership and setting an example for other players on the team, the Dolphins haven't had many better.

If you don't think he had a big hand in improving this team from a one win team to an eleven win team, then you are beyond help.
So did Tom Brady's injury, Trent Edwards' concussion, the Wildcat, a hell of a year by Joey Porter. Just saying.

To try and make excuses for Penny accomplishing what he did last year is rediculous. Give the man his credit and if he has another year like he did last year there is no coach in there right mind that would replace him with an unknown.

The man is what a pro athlete should be.
