The Dolphins Offseason Primer, Part I

Decent read. I can't say that I completely agreed with everything he had to say (and he does know that Brennan is staying at Hawaii right? he sure mentioned his name a lot). I personally feel that Culpepper is not the answer. I doubt Lemon is gonna turn out to be a real good starter, but I would at least like to see a little bit more of what he can do.

I think we need to draft a QB at some point. If Quinn is still there at nine, that should be a no-brainer. Otherwise, I wouldn't touch a quarterback until the third. Hopefully Stanton is still there, I just don't think hes worth a second rounder. Otherwise, I'd take a flyer on a complete developmental player such as Riscati, Rowe, someone like that.

Nice article Funwin. Keep up the good work.

Culpepper, Lemon, and ?

Give Culpepper every chance with Lemon backing him up. Cut Joey and get a FA or draft some one in the 4th or after. One man's opinion.

Do your homework. Colt Brennan is staying in school.

Terrible job on my part, just terrible. I heard he declared, and then never heard anything more about it, so I assumed he was in the draft for good. But, he's rescinded his declaration. I think Scouts, Inc. deserves a hefty share of the blame for leaving his name in their top 32 players.

Just sub "Drew Stanton" and "third round pick" where you see "Colt Brennan" and "second round pick", and the analysis is pretty much the same.

I disagree with Harrington. We need to keep him as backup. Dc is an unknown situation and Lemon is green.

Good article (I replaced Brennan with Stanton). :D Two things not mentioned with parting ways with Culpepper is Miami can choose to only take a $1.4 million hit on Culpepper's bonus this year and thus free up $5.5 million in salary cap space this season. Miami would then be responsible for the other $4.2 million in 2008. The other thing not mentioned is by releasing Culpepper this year and taking the full hit this year Miami will not only decrease the cap by $1.3 this year, but also another $4.2 million in 2008.

Come on guys, you have to read the WHOLE thing.

...Colt Brennan (for example)...

It doesn't matter what name you put in there, he's talking about the idea of drafting a 1st day QB. Could've said Joe Blow for all he cares, the point is still there.

The article was pretty good though, and I'm curious what he says about the other positions.

I wouldn't go that far. I wanted to draft Colt Brennan with our 2nd round pick this year but I would only draft Drew Stanton with our 3rd round pick or later. I just think that Colt has more potential than Drew. I think that Brennan made the right decision to stay for his senior season because I think he will be a sure fire top of the 1st round pick next year as opposed to a maybe 1st-2nd round pick this draft.

There is no doubt in my Mind that we get a QB with one of the first 3 postions, and I basically believe that if we are not able to take one with the 1st (Quinn), we will try hard to get Stanton in the 2nd.

There is no way Stanton is still there in the 3rd....unless he looks horrible at the Combines, which I do not expect.
