Unless some of the agents representing the players suddenly see their clients as Miami sees them, many of these guys will hit free agency Feb. 27.

That certainly is true of Crowder. He and agent Joel Segal have scheduled no talks nor negotiations with the Dolphins between now and the start of free agency. [Negotiation fact: It's hard to get a deal if the sides ain't talking.]

Segal, a skilled dealmaker, has an offer from the Dolphins in hand, according to a source. He also has his price for Crowder's worth. And even as Crowder has been working out at the Dolphins facility as often as four days per weeks since the end of the season, there is a distinct difference of opinion on Crowder's value between the player side and the team side

The absolute worst thing we can do is overpay talent, so if he thinks he can get more somewhere else then great for us for sticking to their guns.

so parcells is basically saying "we want you back, but as a backup" to crowder. hopefully the strategy works. theres definitely a lot of room for upgrades with our LB corps. we're not running the 4-3 anymore: we need elite LBs to make the 3-4 really work. crowder doesnt really fit into that equation.

This is a highly effective team-building philosophy which allows us to stay in healthy cap shape while improving the team through the draft.

I like all of our free agents, but I don't see any of them as irreplaceable.

I promise you if we resign Crowder, it wont be as a backup.

This is very true, to run a solid franchise you have to keep a healthy cap and these guys know how to accomplish that.

I also don't see any of our FA's as irreplaceable, but u do want to make gains the following season, and it would sure help to keep a few of these guys to continue that process. But I do agree, overpaying u just can't do.

Funny thing is, we were going to overpay for Pace last year . . . the Jets just outbid us.

You are always going to overpay in FA. Happens every year, I think the key is not to go with those amazingly over the top contracts just because you want the guy or the big name, whatever the case may beg I have faith in Parcells judgement of linebackers to feel safe that they already have a plan in place if Crowder doesnt return, they probably have his replacement already in mind.

yeah but you have to overpay to make a good FA join a 1-15 team. We wont have to do that this year.

Ive no problems letting Crowder walk, wouldnt mind him as a back up though, as long as its back up money.
