Here is my list of things the phins must do to become a successful FRANCHISE, please contribute with yours:

1. NO MORE REVOLVING DOOR AT QB: There really is no "Marino" curse, its just we have no consistency, I understand its because we havnt found the right guy, but bringing in a new guy every year causes the receivers and coaches to have to adjust and that hurts us at the beg. of the year. I keep hearing, "its taking time to adjust the timing between Harrington/Culpepper/Frerrote/etc. and the receivers" a million times over. We must bring in a FRANCHISE qb. We need to pull a Bengals and Carson Palmer move this offseason. (In my opinion, we will yet again have to go out and find a new guy, because Harrington and Cpep are not the answer, Cpep may never play the same ever again, so if this is the case we must find the franchise guy, no more experiments).

2. NO MORE NEW COORDINATORS: A huge part of the reason we take 7 or 8 games to find any sort of offensive identity is because we keep bringing in a new coordinator every year. We hear the same comments here as we do for the qb's..it takes time to adjust. We call for Linehans head last year at the beg. of the year and Mularkeys this year, but these guys have proven to be good coordinators, they just need time and experience with these guys, we keep telling our guys to learn new plays and schemes and its holding us back. We wanted Mularkey, now we stick with Mularkey.

3. NO REVAMPED SECONDARY: This secondary came out so flat and layed so many eggs at the begining of the season it was pretty embarasing, now they seem to be heading someswhere. I believe they came out flat because they were an all new group with new coaches. Other than a MUCH NEEDED play maker at the CB position, we should leave it as it is! Bell, J Allen, Goodman, and Hill have AWESOME potential.

4. GET ANOTHER PLAYMAKER AT LB: Zach is great and will be great for a couple more seasons, but he and Channing need help, we have average guys with Pope and Spragan, but we need a big time line backer.

5. Get rid of Randy McMichael. I know this isnt necessarily part of the list, but Im sick of this guy. He is fat, out of shape, drops balls and is pretty damn slow..all so that he can claim to be a top tier tight end. With our receiving core the way it is we could use another big play maker at the tight end position ala Todd Heap. McMike plays uninspired.

6. CB: Oh how I miss Pat Surtain in his prime.

Onoe more thing: Axe Mare, he has become nothing more than unreliable. This coming from a Phins fan who defended Mare even while he struggled the last 2 years. Its time for him to go.

I have a couple of points of this post to critique.

I agree on the point of the offensive coordinator, but I also disagree to some point. I think we need to fire Mularky, but promote from within. Get rid of Mularky tomorrow and give the offense 4 games of experiance with Bagget at OC.

You mention our seconday as needing a corner but you listed the wrong one. Will Allen is a good corner but Daniels and Goodman are both better suited for the nickle. I would love to see Allen covering team's number twos while we bring in a big time corner.

I'm not quite sure where I stand on McMike. He has a load of talent but isn't producing. I want to give him the rest of the year before I decide on him.

I like the idea of promoting from within, and im not as much a Mularkey guy as much as Im begging that this team find an identity on offense. I also like Allen although I feel Goodman has game breaking ability. Daniels is no more than average for me. We need a number one guy who can cover the likes of the best receivers in this league, and Im sure weve all seen how W Allen has been SMOKED by certain receivers.

Don't forget Left Tackle. I hope we snag the guy from maryland this year in the draft. Today Mac looked really bad.

I agree with pretty much this entire post, with the exception of getting rid of McMichael. He pisses me off too, but the fact is, there is no clear upgrade that will be available that we can afford. And Mare needs to go. GO. I can't take him anymore. It's gotten to the point where he now alternates between hitting and missing, and it's just totaly unacceptable for a professional kicker to miss the amount of kicks he's missed from the distances he's missing from. He's COMPLETELY unreliable and useless now.

I couldn't agree moer with you bro.

Okay, so we all think Mularky has to go, that's a given. The problem is that whenever we get a new coordinator, it takes us half of a season to understand what we're doing. Just give the team time to actully get a grasp for it and then give them all off-season to work on what they did these last 4 games.

Goodman is a good player, but I like Will Allen a lot better. He has great speed and can come up and make a tackle. He does struggle making breaks on the ball and defending the ball in the air, which is why I like him better on a number 2 WR.

we are actually better this year if you look at the team as a whole we are playing the hardest second half schedule

Thats my point, we get hot when its too late because spend the first 7 games of the season as if it were pre season because everyone needs to get adjusted to new coordinators and systems. I like Allen, but for some reason he has struggled against ELITE receivers this year, he has made GREAT plays, then turned around only to have a complete melt down on the next play. Im just not convinced with him. We need a Champ Bailey

Do we? We've basically kept the same terminology, etc. from when Linehan was here, so the offense isn't that drastically different, outside of having gone to a shorter passing game. Yet it's a cause to celebrate when this team can actually put 20 points on the board.

Then you look at the Jets. New head coach, new offensive coordinator. But aside from a couple of missteps, what you see is an offense that can score points. An offensive that's inventive and creates mismatches. An offensive that has at least performed well a great deal more this year than ours has.

Is it entirely Mularkey's fault? Of course not. The O-line is substandard, the receivers aren't exactly scaring people, and the QB play has also been inconsistent. But a good coordinator should be able to bring out better performances and put the players in a better position to make plays. I'm not sure Mularkey has done that.

Agreed! Time to draft our own damn quarterback.

If you think Mularkey is calling the plays Linehan would then youre sadly mistaken. I dont care what Saban and Co say, this has been a totally new offense. We were a gun slinging team last year, now were a short pass, trick play team and its totally different.

You briong up the Jets. Yes they have new coaches, yet the have the same qb, the same personel in many parts of the team. We bring in new coaches every year, AND new qbes and other personnel. Its twice as hard for us to get on track than it is for the Jets who have a foundation based on their knowledge and security at the qb position etc.

Well yeah like I said both of those can be fixed. Get the new guy in here tomorrow! If it's within, there should be no problem adjusting. Get 4 games in with the new OC on film for the offseason and we will have something to build on.

Go out and get a big shutdown guy because, like you said, Allen struggles on #1s. But he plays the run very well and is extremelly fast. He can be a very good #2.

Unfortunately, that probably isn't gonna happen. We will be stuck with Knees and Harrington again next year.
