In my opinion there are four players who represent value at the top pick.
Glenn Dorsey
Chris Long
Branden Albert
Matt Ryan
Of those four, one will likely fail Miami's rigid size requirements. That being Glenn Dorsey. Although I believe he is the best player in the draft, I feel Miami will stick to their base principles on size. They will likely view him as being too short.
Of those four, one will likely be passed based on financial and predictability concerns. That being Matt Ryan. The bottom line is that you don't want to plant a rose in the desert...especially when you are dealing with 30+ million guaranteed. Miami will build up the talent around the quarterback and see if John Beck can get it done. This is not surprising since Beck has everything Parcells looks for in a quarterback.
That leaves Branden Albert and Chris Long. I think they will take Chris Long. However, there is no player in this draft that I would like to see run through a workout more than Branden Albert. He is so special that he makes Otah, Clady, and Long look pedestrian.
The bottom line is that I could see a scenario where Miami begins negotiations with four to five players in the next seven to ten days. Once they do, I expect those names to be Chris Long, Glenn Dorsey, Matt Ryan, Branden Albert and/or Jake Long. Of those names, I would be happy with Chris Long, Glenn Dorsey, Matt Ryan or Branden Albert. If I were a betting man I would bet on Chris Long. That said, I have to admit I will be rooting a little bit for Albert. He just reminds me so much of what I saw when I looked at Marcus McNeil a few years ago....only much more athletic. Like I said in an earlier post, don't be surprised if is considered one of four elite players to come out of this draft three years from now. And, given the position he plays, he quite possibly might be considered the best.
*Please be advised that this is merely my opinion based on the tape I have watched. Lets refrain from name calling and rely on well reasoned arguments if at all possible.*
