Summary
My toughest 2 cuts were Trusnik and Marlon Moore. I really wanted to see Marlon Moore handle a few returns last night, because I would have kept him if he could provide something on punts. Trusnik isn't as good as Francis as a SOLB or as good as Mitchell as an ILB. With the new kickoff rule, special teams loses a little something, and that ultimately was my reasoning for cutting him. Livas and Spears are guys that I like, but Spears definitely has to bulk up and a year on the PS can do that for him. Livas offers nothing at WR and doesn't break tackles, I think Miami will pick up a guy that can break a few tackles and offer more speed at returner. The Polite era ended when we switched to a more open offense . . . Hilliard and Clay will fill in nicely. John Jerry ultimately gets cut here, he just has been a fat disappointment since he showed up this offseason. Berger just doesn't fit anymore. Not very versatile, overpowered, he is a good backup but with Incognito and Garner, Miami has 3 guys who can play Center. If Miami can trade Merling, we may see Fields back . . . but I don't think Miami is cutting Baker, he has played too well. I kept 6 CB's . . . Miami isn't done with Nolan Carroll yet, especially with Sapp and Allen both on 1 year deals and a 7th round rookie as the other CB. Carroll needs to show some early improvement in practice if he wants the stick the entire year.
Overall, love the fact that we were 2-0 at home this preseason, that is a trend we definitely want to continue in the regular season.
