I have a feeling that after Fridays game, it will be a wake up call for Saban. He has seen after three dismal games the following things:

1. Gus isnt a good Qb.

2. When Ronnie Brown touches the ball something good comes of it.

3. On a positive note, penalties are getting better.

4. Randy needs the ball alot more.

5. !Welker! !We need to use welker!

I have a feeling at Saban will look at how much we threw the ball, and it didn't work. We were ineffective in the passing game and we probably passed a little too much. With that said, whenever Ronnie touched the ball something good happened. I think Saban will sit down with Linehan and they will talk about this before the saints game. Don't be surprised if we see more running of RB against the Saints, especially considering how bad they're run defense is.

Also I think Saban is starting to realize Gus can't get it done, and the door is now open for Sage to have a chance. We want our coach to behind the starter and not play musical Qb's throughout the season. And in the beginning it looked like Gus would be adequate enough, but we just need to overcome the penalties. Well guess what, we did overcome penalties. Didn't we only have 4? Sure Dmac had the holding in the red zone that caused negated the good run by RB, but gus almost had one if not two chances to still get a touchdown. How he missed a wie open booker I don't know. :shakeno: Gus has got to go.

As for Randy, Saban needs to and gameplan to use Randy more. If he sits down with Linehan this week, the need to discuss how Randy isn't getting enough passes thrown to him. When we throw to Randy he makes the catch and a big play. In fact, he is more consistent than last year and has the possiblity to earn his big contract extension if he will just have the ball thrown to him.

Welker is another one how nneds to be thrown to a lot more. Wlker is truly a beast and a playmaker. He always makes the play, and can is good slot reciever. I seem to notice him alot on third and long. It always seems on a third and long and we need a clutch paly, it is Welker making that catch. Like the one before the first half ended that set up the first fieldgoal. He almost had another great catch, but Gus threw it way to high. He jumped up and was just able to get his hands up, but that put him in a bad position to make the play, and a perfect posiiton for the defnder.

awesome post. Saban really needs to sit down with Linehan and talk about how to get the ball to our playmakers more (Randy, Ronnie, Welker).

Good post I completely agree.

I agree. We're really shooting ourselves in the foot with our offensive gameplan. Too much passing to Booker and Chambers, not enough to Welker and McMichael. We also need to get Ronnie involved more. I don't want Ronnie to be beaten to death and have to run 50 times a game, but I'd like to see him handle it 18-23 times. I'd also like to see Ronnie get more chances to catch the ball out of the backfield because it seems like Frerotte doesn't suck when he throws short passes.

I noticed something while watching the game today. The two passes on 2nd and 1 and 3rd and 1 really weren't that bad. We should have ran it to get the first down, but the calls were used to keep the defense off balance. The play on the scond and 1 was a good play by surtain, but maybe chambers should have had it. And the bomb to chambers was a great call but of course Gus sucks and overthrew chambers.

They were good calls and good ideas, but with Gus they weren't really that great of calls.

agree..very good post! Let see what Saban and Linehan come up with against the Saints.

I have another point to make.

Nubmer 6. Reggie Howard really really sucks. It was him that got burnt in the first drive giving up the deep pass and setting up the Chiefs to score. And it was his illegal contack penalty that took away Travis Daniel's interception that let the Chiefs retry their thrid down which led to a first down. Which led to time being wasted.

I agree with your post but in addition to what you said let's not forget to continue working Rickey back into the mix with runs and passes. Regarding McMike, we can gameplan all we want but if the D is hellbent on taking McMike away from us that makes it very tough to get the ball to him. Having said that, if they double Randy that opens up somebody else and we have to be aware enough to find the open man and get him the football. We have been passing too much. We're letting the D dictate what we do on offense. If they load up the box we pass and it seems that we don't have the talent to be able to do that in any kind of consistant manner. The passing opens you up for other negatives such as interceptions, sacks, penalties. Now Gus is patting the ball and forcing the ball into coverage and getting his passes slammed back into his face by the d-line. What happened to the three step drop and the ball is gone. That's the only way Frerotte will give you positive plays. He has to get in rhythm, stay in rhythm and there MUST be a balance of running and passing. If we can get Ronnie and Rickey pounding on the other team they will wear them down, time of possession will start to work more in our favor and at some point we can use play action and have it work in our favor. What we've been doing has NOT been working so let's smarten up and change things around. I DEMAND better Quarterback play. If Gus can step it up then fine, if he can't give him the clipboard and let's see what Sage can do.

Personally, I think working Ricky back into the game is hurting us more than it's helping right now. 6 rushes for -1 yards isn't helping. Especially when your talking about that being another down that we failed to convert a first down on. Lets put it this way, when the team is having as much trouble as we are as getting first downs, why wast a down with a negative run by Ricky. I'd rather give it to Ronnie who usually gains yards.

I have a feeling, that whenever Ricky comes into the game, the defense knows we're going to run. That could be part of it.

Good Post Im' sure Nick and Scott will talk about what they really need to get done, they have afew extra days to preapre so they should come up w/ something good.

Don't forget it was his amatuer, pathetic, high school level whiff on Boerigter as well that allowed Boerigter to get the long catch and run down the sideline to set up a TD. That was more pathetic than the give up on the first drive IMO. Howard had him one on one on a curl route. He was 2 yards off him when he caught it and dove forward to make the tackle and completely missed

I know it has been said many times. But I am not joking nor just complaining here. Howard is LITERALLY terrible. This man does not deserve to be in the NFL. He should feel lucky he doesn't have to spend tie in prison for the money he has stolen in that asinine contract of his.

Nice post. We gotta let Ronnie do what Ronnie does best....Run!!! Too many passes. I hope Saban and Linehan realize this and adjust the game plan.
