Things that went our way:
1. Rashad Jones. That dude played huge tonight. He's a ball hawker and can really tackle in the open field. He really attacks when they bust it outside. I trust him, Jenkins and Vernon to make a tackle. Everyone else? 50/50 shot
2. Crowd Noise. I know the conditions obviously weren't ideal to play in but imagine if the jets fans actually showed up and were making noise in the 4th. Great turnout by fins fans
3. Couple of dropped picks by the jets defense really kept is in the game. I dont know how Calvin Pace dropped that ball but that was a pretty terrible throw. Tannehill could have easily have had three picks tonight. It was nice seeing that ball hit Pace right in the face though.
4. Nick Folk. Finally we get some breaks from a kicker. Had that been carpenter hitting those we probably would be 6-6. Good thing we never had folk or he would be amazing. (insert a huge list of players we didnt evaluate right)
5. None of our corners got hurt. Thats pretty neat.
Things that didn't go our way:
1. Officiating. I don't know why we got stuck with this cast of misfits last night. 99% of the time that play is overturned because the ball was clearly out and there was a clear recovery. Also the no call on the chop block was insane. I rewound the tv and saw the side judge starting pulling at his flag then just decided it was too precious to throw. (insert ref looking like gollum from lord of the rings)
2. Sturgis. Our kicker blows enough said
3. Run defense. I think the only solution is you have to play guys like shelby and mitchell or have delmas/jones play polamalu style. I saw way too much of Jordan out there last night against run plays and that dude can not tackle.
4. Injuries. Starting with Brian Hartline. Never like to hear its a knee issue. I did see him put his helmet on after it happened to go back in but he didnt so maybe precautionary? I know a lot of you don't like gibson but i don't think the drop off is too severe between the two. And hey we may even be able to see matthews play more. Saw Jenkins leave in the first half with a back injury. Obviously he was able to tough it out with 16 tackles but if we lose him we would be in deep against the ravens. Finally Satele, who took a hit to the side so I think some bruised ribs but not enough to have him take off next week. Thank god we have the luxury of Pouncy at center
5. Playing a desperate team. They pulled out all the plays in the vault. You could see just how depressed rex was after the game and that shows they put everything into this game. On the flip side you could say that this game is actually good for them in the long run. They now know their weaknesses and how teams are going to attack them with the run. They have a week to fix it, so instead of killing the jets and getting complacent all week they are totally in the playoff mindset and now knowing that they are actually able to get a comeback win.
