I don't think the Dolphins ever had a true H-Back before. Nor did we have the H-Back position on our Depth Chart. And now we have three.

Ben Moa (who, I believe, is on NFLEL reserve) has been great in Europe. Unfortnately, his injuries hadn't allow him to show what he could do in BFL.

Alex Holmes has been used in blocking, as well as Lorenzo Diamond. Both of them did their work in the trenches and blocked so well along with the O-line, on one run play, Ricky Williams had time to adjust his helmet.

So will we officially use the H-Back position next year?

I dunno if we'll stick with an H-Back if Linehan leaves. I'd imagine so, because it seems like the people he have picked up have the same general philosophy and personnel views as Saban.

It seems like the Lorenzo Diamond at H-Back experiment ended pretty quickly. After we cut Heath Evans, Diamond and Morris got a chance to lead block vs. the Saints and neither of them did very good, despite the yardage. Since then, I didnt really notice Diamond getting a shot.

I dont know Holmes is the H-Back of the future, either. He didnt really light it up at any point.

I truley like Diamond at tight end.....I haven't really seen much of Alex Holmes

Two words:

Brandon Manumaleuna

6'2" 288-pound free agent TE from St. Louis. I think he'll be our 1st free agent signing of the offseason.

That would be a great signing if we do bring him in. The Rams loves to use him as a blocking TE because he can help make the holes for Jackson and Faulk to run through. He doesn't get into the passing game much, but he would be great for an H-back.

I actually asked some Ram fans about him, and they dont have alot of good to say. Here's a link- http://www.kffl.com/forums/showthread.php?t=155107

Personally, there are two pretty good canidates for H-Back in the draft, IMO... Matt Bernstein and Dominique Byrd.

correct me if i'm wrong but an h-back is basically a hybrid of TE and FB? take turns lining up in both positions?

i wanna what is a H-back

Yeah but it sounded like they were answering your question in the frame of mind of his being a pass-catching TE, not a lead blocker like you asked. We have McMichael for that and don't need that like they do. I wonder if any of those guys even watches their games in a way that would help them evaluate him that way.

I'm also curious about this hybrid position in the Phins O. There's no glamour in it, but having a good lead blocker and someone who can be an outlet to bail out the QB on a broken down pass play is very useful. Barnes 'usually' makes a good block, but whiffs bigtime on occasion and he cannot catch squat. Diamond is the opposite. I'm wondering if KayJay can be the guy. I'd really like to see him make the team this year. How about Holmes? You don't need to spend a draft pick or big $ on this spot, obviously. I'll be watching this position just as much as any other this offseason.

If you're saying that Diamond can't block, you are wrong on that.

I think the only true H-Back is Chris Cooley. With Randy McMicheal I don't think a pass catching H-Back will do much good and probly we will jsut find a good blocking TE to use with McMicheal
