Whether you think we should have added 10 more offensive linemen to the team is irrelevant. The guys we have are going to get better if they have any work ethic at all.
Here are some things Nick Saban and Hudson Houck have instituted this offseason that haven't been going on in the past:
*The offensive line has their own group strength coach now. The linemen have been working with this coach for the past two months on their strength, conditioning, and techniques of transferring their strength from the legs through the hips.
*Tom Davis, the assistant OL coach, has been working with the linemen on an individual basis, working on their technique. Some of the linemen feel that this is the first legitimate coaching they have had since they've been in Miami.
Tony Wise did these young linemen an incredible disservice over the last two years. First, he did not work with the young linemen. He was a poor communicator with the young guys, and the only individual work they got was when Todd Perry and Tim Ruddy stayed after practice to work with them and help them get the blocking assignments down. Last year, Jeff Dellenbach spent most of the time working with the young guys.
That has all changed. There is finally some structure, and there is finally some instruction going on.
