"Deep Threat"
Forget the Tannehill injury for a minute, if you will.
Let's look at the big picture here. The next 3 games aka the rest of the season schedule.
EVERYTHING has worked out today as far as getting help around the league, and soon enough the Ravens losing will be further help to it all.
So let's strap in and realize the last 3 games will ALL have meaning for this Dolphins team in their decent shot at the playoffs.
Think about it...
1. The Jets are one of the worst teams in the NFL. Especially lately. They are a gong show that's actually getting worse. They are done and likely will go with a rookie QB in this game and just go through the motions. I know, the Dolphins rarely sweep the Jets and the Jets are at home, but their fans hate them right now. It is a rare Saturday night game and I know the Fins are not the best in those type of games, but again, this is the hapless Jets. This is the ONLY Jets team I really wanted to play in the last 10 years. I think they are the 2nd worst team in the NFL when it all shakes out. Good chance at winning. I like Matt Moore throwing the ball in this one.
2. The Bills, another Saturday night game, again on the road and in cold/snow like conditions. Always has been tough, really tough, but let's face it, the Bills were eliminated today and basically are firing Rex Ryan this week and are DONE. They have checked out as of tonight. They will just be going through the motions as well. Still, will be tough to win back to back divisional road games regardless, and tough that both are in cold weather and at night. BUT, this is also the worst Bills team in many years, and I would rather play them down and out with their anemic offense and subpar defense. Big up ticks for Miami considering everything.
3. The Patriots, at home in Miami. The obligatory last game vs the Pats at home. A game that the Dolphins usually win more often than not for the very same reason I think they will do it again. The Pats SHOULD have home field advantage throughout the playoffs all locked up the previous week, making this a meaningless game for them. A game you would likely see Brady either play 1 quarter, or just the first half, or maybe not at all since Garoppolo has gotten a substantial amount of playing time this year and can handle it. Miami could very well need to WIN this game to get in the playoffs, so their will never be a more upbeat team in this one.
So as you see, their opponents could very well have meaningless games in each of the 3 remaining match-ups. Now that often doesn't mean too much, but means ENOUGH. I'd rather play teams who are out, or who have clinched everything compared to teams that are fighting for their playoff lives or for home field.
With that said, 2-1 is very very possible and I would say even likely. 3-0 is still in play as well, but so many things have to go right and Moore has to be solid. 10-6 with the tie breakers gets them in, and why not be optimistic about it?
Troll who? Thanks for reading!
