It started with Penny's absence and has come to this point.

- keeping JT is a must

- Henne must fill the vaccum

- we must draft guys who lead and love to ball

- we must cut Porter and Crowder

we do need future leaders, thats why i want ROLANDO MCCLAIN.

perfect example of leadership: after alabama beat the gators his team mates wanted to gatorade dump "nick satan" but he told them NO. he said its because they set out to win the national championship not just to beat the gators. he understood what the ultimate goal was and wasnt going to celebrate or let the team celebrate until the ultimate goal was acheived.

I agree, somewhat, leadership is huge.

I'm just curious how much the other players view JT as a leader? Being traded and then coming back to basically a brand new organization. Obviously the fans love him but this isn't his team anymore. He will most likely be the only returning captain next season.

I would love to see Bell and Starks appointed the other captain spots. Both of them are vets and display a lot of effort on every down. Something we could use a lot more of next season.

I agree a leader is needed for the defense and Mcclain would fill the void. JT and Ferg are long in the tooth to continue much longer. I'm not sure about Bell.....I have read he has some monster bonus coming with the idea that the contract he signed was basically a one year deal.

On offense, it definitely has to be Henne. Jake Long was a team leader at Michigan if I'm not mistaken.

That's a good point about Pennington. If the defense had a leader like him on their side of the ball it might have been worth another win or two.

Id go with

Defense - Starks & Bell (unless a top LB, either draft or FA comes onboard)

Offense - Jake Grove / Henne

team leadership - 5 responses

Rachel Ray - 35 responses

We don't need to get into signing guys that skills are diminishing just because they are leaders. The FO just need to start drafting kids that have the ability to lead, let some of the young'ns step up become leaders. Hell if I were a young guy on this team I would be ecstatic (sp) your basically on a team w/o set leaders it's theres for the taking....ahem...Henne!!

Spikes would be a good pickup for leadership too, if he somehow falls in the draft.

Team leaders are guys who get things done on the field.....we are a young team, that is why we lack veteran leadership......I could see Ronnie taking a bigger roll in this on the offense and Henne will slowly become the guy.......I think Henne being the man during the off season and training camp players will have confidence in him by week 1......Dont look for guys to be leaders, look for guys who can play and the team will rally around them....

McClain can play. And he was the unquestioned leader of the 2nd best defense in NCAA football. :)

Is there a leader vacuum because Captain Porter sucks?
