That until you build a team to compete with New England, you will be unsuccessful going any further than 16 games in this league. Seems obvious enough however regime after regime has either not recognized this fact or has been woeful in their execution to h point that our goal is a wildcard to start the season. Hopefully Adam Gase "Gets it". New England just gets it done every week without splashy names at every position but somehow they are the model franchise for years now................

How ever bad bill parcells was with not finding good talent evaluators or coaches.. he knew you win up front on both sides of the ball.

NE is bad for the NFL...Yawn
Every season & decade after decade they prove there is really no equalizer for a powerful owner. Want to know why ratings are down and nobody pays attention to NE vs *.* except NE fans? We already know the outcome of NEXT weeks game and the one a year from now. Why pay attention?

Pats always good. They always win the division. Brady has 12 TDs and 0 picks in the 4 games he's played. NE represents the AFC in the SB again unfortunately.

12 INTs with 0 picks is tough to do... ha, just kiddin', I know what you meant.

This is why I don't understand how anyone could have been cheering for New England to beat Buffalo. They are so dominant that it's sickening. How can any team in ANY sport be this good for this long??? This has to be the most dominant stretch in sports history. 15+ years and no signs of slowing down. Maybe the 49ers of the 80's and 90's are ahead of them but their run involved more than one coach and more than one QB. Even the dominant teams in NFL history have had down years where they miss the playoffs, etc. Not New England. They went 11 and 5 WITHOUT Brady. it's almost like they have an unfair competitive advantage. It's not even November and the divisional race is practically over. If Brady doesn't get suspended, they'd be 8 and 0 and we'd be ready to kill ourselves with talk of them going undefeated.

Look at how dominant Carolina was last year and now they're 2 and 6. That is par for the course in the NFL as far as I'm concerned. I've seen tons of teams have great years followed up by subpar years.

Look at the Ravens. They're viewed as a successful franchise. They have 2 super bowl wins since 2000 and yet they only have 4 division championships and have missed the playoffs numerous times and have finished at or under 500 five times! What about the Steelers? They also have 2 super bowl wins and yet they've also missed the playoffs numerous times and have finished at or under 500 four times since 2000.

Bottom line: I am sick and tired of being sick and tired of New England. It's time for a changing of the guard in the AFC East.

Well said. It's a dominance like no other.

I said it in another thread, the Patriots are the picture of what corruption looks like in a professional sport. Even when they are caught breaking the rules, it's hard to convince enough people that the small thing they were caught doing equates to the level of dominance they are putting on display. It's like... if you cheat at damn near everything you do and get away with most of it, then what things you are caught doing will never stick because no one will ever believe it's significant in the face of all your accomplishments. Like the deflated footballs, no one even wants to talk about it anymore because in their minds it couldn't possibly matter compared to just how dominant the Patriots have been. I tend to see it as just the tip of the iceberg with these guys, though. I think they got careless. In other words, don't look at what my other hand is doing, pay attention to the questionable activity I'm doing in broad daylight. Only problem for them? They had no idea they would be punished not just for what they were caught doing but for lying about it. They did not see that coming.

But anyway let's just get ready for someone to bust into this conversation to call us all a bunch of sore losers and to just realize how good the Patriots really are. If only we achieved that kind of success.

I really believe one day, maybe after Belichick or Kraft has passed away, some employee is going to write a tell all book. They will probably be the one whose payments stopped coming or something. Now will anyone take them seriously, like Jose Canseco with steroids in baseball.

Strangely we do head to head with New England OK. However it will be extremely difficult to beat out New England for the division title.

What's this list?

1980 Oakland Raiders
1997 Denver Broncos
2000 Baltimore Ravens
2005 Pittsburgh Steelers
2007 New York Giants
2010 Green Bay Packers

Wild card teams that have won the Superbowl since 1978.

Not impossible but pretty rare.

well thank goodness for that 2007 giants team. The fact they were 10-6 and a WC makes that upset so much sweeter. That was the hardest I ever yelled, screamed, jumped up and down cheering for a team that wasn't Miami.

Interesting that most of the teams in the division have tried to counter New England with defensive minded coaches and schemes. Miami has gone the opposite route in looking for someone who can match wits with Bill Belichick on the offensive side. Too early to say if that will work.

Give the Patriots credit for playing the salary cap game to perfection. Tom Brady was a compensatory pick and, if I had to guess, New England has probably had more comp picks than any other team. Every year it seems like the Patriots have 10-11 picks, while Miami is around 6-7. Those comp picks can pay off. They know when to let players go, rarely spend big in free agency, and spend their money wisely. Simply put, New England gets it.

If you look at their 14-year run, they've obviously had a franchise quarterback in Brady but the other pieces are constantly changing. A strong defensive line has always been the trademark as well. Add Belichick and it's a tough combination.

Brady is 39, though, and Belichick is closing in on 70. I believe both are looking for that fifth title to go out on top and then maybe leave the game.

It's similar to the sentiment for the 49ers when they were dominant. One of my best friends was a Rams fan and he was always ranting and raving that San Francisco spent three times as much as the next highest salaried team.

Every year it seemed like SF got the best free agents adding elite talents like Deion Sanders to an already impressive list of talent.

I believe SF was a primary reason for the NFL adopting the salary cap. At the same time, have to give them credit for working within the rules to upgrade the team in anyway the could. Wouldn't Don Shula have loved if Joe Robbie was as free with his money?

The universal truth is that everything comes to an end. The Patriot dominance can't last forever and is near its end. Brady is 38. He will not be winning Super Bowls at 45. Worst case scenario it's another 2-4 years of this dominance. Best case it's 2 and hey maybe Gase is the next genius of the league. That's the optimistic point of view of course.
