The issue will McMillan is his weakness in pass coverage. He is great against the run but the NFL has become more of a passing league than a rushing league. He is the type of LB you like on your team because he is a defensive leader. Whether they will be able to sign him to a long term deal will be based on if he wants the money an every down LB gets or if he will be willing to sign a cap friendly contract based on the fact he is a two down LB.
Godchaux is a keeper, IMO. The longer they wait to sign him to an extension the more expensive he will become. If he plays as well as he has the past few years, he will get paid in free agency next year and it might not be by the Dolphins. Of the two players, I think signing Godchaux to an extension before the season is more imperative than signing McMillan. Yet it would be nice to see both of them sign extensions with the Dolphins.
