Maybe the site launch delay has something to do with the Miami Dolphins filing a URDP dispute claim with ICANN to acquire Dolphins.com over the past month.. And it looks like the team won the domain name as the whois database is now showing Dolphins.com is owned by the National Football League.
First the initial story reported July 22nd

And the whois database is now showing ownership of the domain to the NFL

The previous owners were stupid as they had ads up for miami dolphins tickets and team merchandise on the previous site (according to an archive check via archive.org). That's an infringement of the Team Mark.. If they didn't have those ads up, they would have kept the name as it's too generic a word to be taken away from them via WIPO... But it's good for us and the team to own Dolphins.com

But the previous owner lost the domain for nothing if it was indeed a ruling with ICANN and there was no backdoor deal for the name. As Dolphins.com received a very good amount of traffic, and one-word dotcoms are worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, sometimes more.
