We all witnessed yesterday how THill rips a defense apart when he's not pressured. He is night and day when he's protected and when he's not. Not that he's afraid to take a hit because he's not, he's tough as nails, but when he's pressured I think his brain turns to mush with the football.

But.....how will this offensive line fair the rest of the way? We saw what the Bills DL did to to it the last 3 games. I really believe this is the Fin's only glaring concern.

I really believe if this line can give us 75% of what it gave us yesterday we are going to the playoffs. But the big "IF" is what do we get from them the rest of the way???

And Ryan is amazing every time he gets protection. He really can be a top 10 when he gets that play from his line.

That question is only valued at $35,237

Pouncey will be a big boost and Albert and James are solid at tackles. But I think our guards are trash

Maybe we can plug in Turner at LG and Satele at RG? That could be interesting with Pouncey in the middle? That might make for a competitive line.

this deserved its own thread because? he was pressured yesterday and the raiders defense isn't horrible. The difference was the WRs not dropping passes and the raiders offense being so bad we didn't have to force anything.

As the offense gets more reps, he'll be fine even when pressured at times. The ball SHOULD come out quicker negating some of the heat.

Brandon Albert is worth every penny we pay him. Ju'Wuan James is getting better every week. The inside of the line should get a boost with Pouncey and hopefully that causes the Guard play to improve. I still think the Guards are the week link here. Benton has done a fantastic job though.

Only 2 more first round picks before the line is set, just give it time.

If you don't like the thread, don't respond moron. And for your 1 penny thought, yes it does deserve its own thread.

I'm impressed with the OL. Albert and James have already exceeded my expectations. We are on pace to give up 20 less sacks this year, and there are actually running lanes for the RBs. We still need to improve in pass protection, but I think that will come soon enough. I also saw Miller make a textbook block in pass pro yesterday.

IMO the problem isn't pressure. He hangs tough under pressure and if you go back and watch that Patriots game, the reason he wasn't sacked 5 times was not great OL play, but some good moves sliding out of the pocket. Even in the KC game, he had several plays where he used his feet to slide to his left or step up and get the ball out.

Our offense crumbles when teams are able to get that kind of pressure with four while dropping 7 in coverage. That's when Tannehill needs to simply cut and run with the football, and he hasn't been doing that. That's an area of his game where he needs rapid improvement if we expect to beat teams like Buffalo and the Jets in the next 3 games against them.

EDIT: 2 examples from the KC game. First, the 30 yard completion to Mike Wallace. Look at where he was when he threw the football. Tannehill moved out to his left to buy time and a clean passing lane. Second, the 20 yard DROP from Gibson. Tannehill again moved to his left to buy time and get a passing lane and delivered a strike. He obviously trusts Branden Albert and Daryn Colledge.

QBs tend to play better when they have more time. If your trying to say that Tannehill panics under pressure you're incorrect.

Although RT wasn't sacked yesterday, he had something like 4 knockdowns and 9 hurries so I would hardly state that he wasn't pressured yesterday. The difference isn't pressure per se, it's how much time he is given before the D actually reaches him. The difference between the OL holding up for 3 seconds as opposed to 2 can be huge. A valid argument might be made that he hasn't yet developed the instincts for evading rushers once they get past the blockers, but to say that he doesn't do well under pressure is not entirely accurate.

He often had all day to throw against the Pats in week 1 and his accuracy was awful on a lot of throws. He did face pressure yesterday and was fine. He has handled pressure fine in the past. It seems to me like he just went out and played yesterday and didn't try to be perfect with every single throw. He just kinda let it fly.

I disagree with the entire premise of this thread on several counts:

1. He threw nice passes yesterday while under pressure and in fact while getting hit.

2. I have seen him thrown lousy passes while he has time to set up a 4 course meal - including dessert.

3. He has thrown death balls and gotten his receivers killed - for no apparent reasons.

4. He has thrown magical passes that his receivers have dropped.

5. The offensive scheme (like Phille's) is set for quick hitches, screen passes, misdirection, play action - all to help Ryan get rid of it QUICK!

6. The issue is Ryan growing the F up and playing like a top pro every week - then we will be in big games.

7. The million dollar question is - Will Philbin be such a dry piece of toast as a head coach that we will all choke to death ?

I hear ha dude, but go back and watch those Buffalo games. Totally manhandled and running lanes and passing lane shut down. They were handcuffed. I can't see how they overcome that unless they win that OL battle. I just hope Ryan learned something yesterday running the football and scrambling out

Well, then you're not watching the games. I'm not saying he panics, I'm saying when he's under that pressure he doesn't see the field like other great QBs do. Proof is in the pudding. Case in point...yesterday's raider game

Just finished watching the game again, he had tons of time
