Ok, so the 2009/10 Miami Dolphin season is coming to an end, and despite the record I am pretty happy with what I've seen. The team has fought hard and we are getting there, just maybe a bit slower then we all want.

One of the most talked about topics I have seen these past few weeks is our next WR addition. We know all of the big name free agents coming up, we know all the young stars coming up in the draft, and everyone has their own ideas of a miracle trade to get a true #1.

With that said, does anyone on this board honestly believe that this regime will NOT do SOMETHING to help out the team at this position?

Now, I know some people will say that Bill Parcells doesn't go after the big name guys. And that drafting a 1st round WR is highly unlikely. I agree with both of those arguments, but the FO KNOWS that we need to make a move. Even if it is not in our eyes a big name #1.

I mean look at how many passing attempts Henne has been given (stats might not be too accurate since they had to come back from big deficits) and you have to believe that they want him to make the plays. I cannot sit here and honestly say that they will NOT make a move this offseason. I think all of the doubters need to have some faith in our FO who will make a move to upgrade our receivers.

Now if they don't, everyone please dig this out of the archives next season, while simultaneously pointing and laughing at me, and can say "I told you so".

-Cheers

Technically this regime did something the last 2 years. It wasn't what needed to be done. In particular, we needed a game changing WR in this years draft. We got Hartline and Turner. Think what you want about them, they are not game changers at this time.

I think that they will do something about it , but something intrigues me , i really think that if gresham is there when fins pick they will grab him no doubt . i really feel that a dominant TE is maybe more interesting to our offense than a WR . a TE can catch , go down the field , Block ..etc etc .... ginn has the ability to go for the bomb , we wont take a ist rounder just for that .

I really think we are gonna sign Antonio Bryant this offseason. The Bucs aren't going to want to franchise him because the owners are really hurting for money due to their soccer investment that didn't quite pan out. Plus Parcells has been sending him text messages through various outlets telling him to keep his head up and to work hard throughout the past year.

I would be happy with this signing for two reasons. One, we wouldn't have to give up any draft picks for a proven wide receiver. Two, we could use those draft picks to address the defensive side of the ball in the first few rounds of the draft.

I believe the phins really didnt address the wr core because of the "potential" they have shown as a group last year. with that solid play, they figured they could get by for this season. but when you look at a top flight corner (which are hard to get) comes up when you are drafting, you have to take it! but i know several teams were sniffing around miles austin last season.... i know they may be kicking themselves now! i dont think dallas will let him free. if so, they are STUPID!

This will be the draft of the "Playmakers" for the Phins! If they play around and pull a john avery when randy moss was available, then dolphins stadium may come burning down! I can hear the big o now....bashing the phins like its no 2morrow!

I really would love things going that way . we need to focus on defense , that`s our main problem , getting bryant will be a major step forward .

If we take a big FA like antonio bryant , we may pick TE Gresham with our first pick . then we will have a monster receiving corps , with ronnie and cobbs healthy . and 4 draft picks to go defense FS ,NT,ILB . now that`s a major rebuilding !

ehh... id much much rather do a sign Karlos Dansby then draft dez bryant in the 1st and Jimmy Graham/Aaron hernandez/Dennis Pitta in the 4th, Ricky Sapp in the 2nd and Micah Johnson in the 3rd...

Hell, sign Karlos Dansby and Antonio Bryant. Trade Ronnie for a 2nd and hope we loose the last game vs Pit then go

1- Dan Williams or Terrence Cody
2- Ricky Sapp
2- Toby Gehart
3- George Selvie
4- Aaron Hernandez/Dennis Pitta/Jimmy Graham

That adds 3 quality LB's, a good TE prospect, one of the top 2 nt prospects, and a pounder in Toby who hasnt fumbled in like 600+ carries and is a redzone monster

You know that old football saying that you can't expect too much from a rookie wide reciever. It takes a couple of seasons for them to get into the flow of the game. Some do it there rookie season but few compared to the ones who make no impact. I think Hartline has made a small impact this season even on special teams. I think Hartline has a pretty good looking career ahead of him if he keeps improving plus he's tall.
I didn't see much of Turner this season so i have no opinion about that. So i will agree that they are not game changers right now but at least Hartline in on track... Just my opinion.

The Fins need a big time player at reciever. Turner hasn't made it to the field, so he can't be very good at this point in time..... Maybe he will develop? Ginn is very fast, but doesn't want to mix it up. The others are very similar. The need is for a somewhat big, athletic guy that can go after the ball and has some speed. They need a weapon at the position, a guy opposing teams have to account for, not just a guy to catch the ball.

I believe this, ILB, and FS, are the teams biggest needs.

 that was funny as sh*t.

But looking at the circumstances...its safe to say that MIA will "not" be using their 1st round pick on that #1. We have all young receivers, so MIA is lacking that "veteran" WR.

And with all the legit #1 WR FAs all but going to be franchise tagged or tendered if they are RFAs, MIA can only aquire that #1 WR via a trade and a trade involving some high draft pick(s).

Which of the #1 type veterans will be the least damaging to our draft/future?

Well, with Ginn Jr having shown some signs that he can stay that deepthreat/KR on one side of the field, MIA can actually inquire for a #1 "non necessarily deep threat" type of WR.

So instead of giving up Akin Ayodele's replacement at ILB or Joey Porter's replacement at OLB by giving up our 1st round pick, MIA can probably most likely be able to swing a deal of a 2nd round pick and some change for a WR like AnQuan Boldin.

Boldin, Ginn, and Hartline are a nice trio...especially if we add a TE say maybe in the 3rd round or get lucky in FA? Just saying. Don't see by the way Jeff Ireland sounded in that interview that they are going to give up the future of the franchise for a #1 WR.

He made clear that they will go about a different way to get one (that was an implication that a trade was well on the works)...but not at the cost of our #1 pick.

I think it will end up being Boldin for a 2nd round pick. And who knows if they find a way to keep our 2nd rounder and actually get him for a 2nd round pick in 2011...

Yeah, he'd be another option to the Boldin scenario.

Even though Ginn has had his worst season I wouldn't mind him sticking it out another year IF we got a #1.
