I'm surprised there hasn't been more discussion of Cam's presser yesterday and what he said about Cleo:

Last year Cleo played at the level of a good backup. If he's significantly improved his accuracy, can he realistically win the starting job this year?

Let me put it this way: No one's the starter right now. Regardless of whether Green comes or not, anybody on the roster who plays the QB position has a shot.
 
I happen to think Cleo has what it takes. Not that that matters.
 
If we get Trent Green, I see it as:

1. Green
2. Lemon
3. Beck

If we don't get Green, then it could be:

1. Lemon
2. Beck/DC :shakeno:

I say we bring in Green, have him tutor Beck, send DC packing, and keep Lemon as our emergency guy.
 
If Cam's true to his word, indeed a quarterback will win the job; it will not be given to anyone. I think Cleo is capable of surprising a lot of people. If his improvement with his throwing mechanics can continue to evolve and can be retained in real game action (and I think they will) he could be the real deal for the Fins at qb.

Wrong. Trent Green will be the starter barring something crazy happening like a shark biting his leg off.

Is it possible to have someone(especially Cam or Randy) say something positive about a guy without most of you on here making it out to mean that he's a lock to contribute big for us in games. Lemon will hold clipboards and be happy. Of course hes saying that. Cam and the gang are still a bit dilusional and believe saying positive crap about Lemon or any other QB currently on our roster makes KC feel we really dont have to have Green. Peterson(KC's GM) needs to cut the crap too and stop pretending Green will be on their team if we dont fork over a good pick. Besides even if we werent dealing for Green what is Cam gonna say? Do you expect him to bash his own players for no reason? Im sure Cleo is doing fine so far, but lets not get carried away and pretend he is an answer as a starter.

Yeah because he really earned the shot to be the unquestioned starter with those numbers he put up last year before and after injury. :rolleyes2

Who's saying he's a lock? Nobody's saying anything more than that he might compete. Nobody will be given that job, not TG, not Lemon, or anyone. It'll have to be earned.

Daunte will never suit up for the dolphins again.. He is simply not a Coryell offense type of QB.. Cameron can't wait to get Green to get rid of C-pep.

Lemon has learned how to be a "clinger". He knows how to solidify a backup role. What he did this weekend was exploit the fact that he knows more about the offense than the other two QBs throwing. He also knows what Culpepper is like at the mini-camps. It was like someone taking a test when they already have most of the answers while the rest of the class doesn't.

I'm not sold on anything from Cleo. He has proven nothing so far.

For someone like you to be a Daunte supporter, that says a lot. Daunte has proved nothing here since he has gotten here. Nothing. He cannot grasp an offense for his life, I have watched about every game he played in a vikings uniform due to my mom and brother being die hard Vikings fans. Sure, he has a cannon, but the reads he makes are putrid and disgusting. He always checks down to his running back first if his first read isnt there. He doesn't even bother for the 3rd option. Daunte is fit for an offense that has 3 reads, not one that has 7 reads like Camerons.

Stop Bashing Cleo, if Cam was going to say something positive, it would have been about any of the rookies, Joey Porter, Kelly Campbell, Zach Thomas, or even John Beck. He decided to comment on Cleo, which says a lot.
