Yesterday, I was unsure as to what's going on with Ireland's decisions. But thinking about it, Garrard is a decent BACKUP QB. Bell eing released is an understandable decision. I'm beginning to think if Flynn was worth the risk, we would have gotten him. And Smith I believe is just a get back at his girlfriend who dumped him thing.
We have been left to wonder why all this is happeneing. But if the end result is a surprising attempt at Luck, RG3, or Blackmon, we'll all be happy. Don'y say they are out of contention for these guys, everyone has a price, and maybe the Fins pay it.
All of this unloading with cautious new signings may give a hint to where we are going.
The end result is what happens in the draft. If Ireland blows it in the draft, Ross will experience uncharted depths of fan hatred.

I don't see any logical scenario where we land Luck or RG3.

I don't know why people talk about us basing our thoughts on this front office only on what has happened in this years free agency period. It is the years of mediocrity that has made us sour not improving the team at all these last weeks is just more evidence of it. Now we say oh but it isn't even the draft yet but unless Ireland deviates greatly this year we will pick more projects and decent players that will make this team but would never make any playoff caliber team in the league. He needs to pick up some game changers like Wake was for him.

We arent on the business side of this. If the Colts want to trade and get ALOT of compensation, maybe they wait for Barkley next year and have all the other picks. That's logical, not probable though.

I hate to be the one to break the news... but there is no master plan here in action, where us fans are left wondering while the pieces fall into place.. The real story is Ireland felt the pressure of not having a QB and pulled the Gerrard deal out of his butt to make it look like he's on top of things..

Forget that Gerrard flat out rejected us and did so in a disrespecting way last year.. forget that he recently had back surgery.. this signing is nothing more than an attempt of a quick-fix/band-aide by Ireland to save face...

GM can put a bandaid on 10 years of nonsense. The only reason we are talking Tannehill and Weeden and another WCO potential draft pick is because of Philbin and Shaerman. One HC with lots of experience coaching hall of fame QBs and a new HC who also coached the same highest level of offense and QB play.

Enough with the PArcells and Sparano Henne shananigans and Gerrard gladly is a one year bandaid as we wait for philbin/sherman to do their thing. If GM screws it up, well then he is in the last year of his contract. He better not screw things up. I dont have a problem with releasing Bell;however if its true Bell was told there is no way he would be released then that is a problem. He should have been told, we will come to you to restructure at some point and if you cant support the franchise then you will be released.

Then whats worse? The actual signing of Garrard, or the notion that Ireland thinks the fanbase is stupid enough to think he can sell Garrard as real competition?
