Searching for some decent discussions/articles on football, I ran across a below cited Cold, Hard Football Facts article, which lists the greatest football duos in NFL history. I do not agree with several of the selections made by them. For example, by not mentioning Dan Marino? In any event, having read the article, here are my top 5:

1.) BB and Tom Brady: So far, three SBs and multiple playoff appearances in their reign...made more difficult because its' being accomplished in the salary cap era. This duo has been so effective that their competitors have had to revert to changing rules and intimidating officials to stop them;

2.) Vince Lombardi and Bart Starr: Five World Championships in the 60s and a near miss in Philadelphia in 1960 says it all...in a Celtic-like football dynasty;

3.) Bill Walsh and Joe Montana: Dominated the decade of the 80s and
changed the game with their so-called West Coast offense. Have to put an asterisk on this duo, though...as the great Jerry Rice also deserves credit for their success;

4.) Don Shula-Bob Griese two great minds thinking alike A very underrated duo that, if not for the success of a "Steel Curtain" in the 70s, would have challenged the Packers of Lombardi and Starr for dominance. They still managed to capture two SBs and the 72 undefeated season;

5.) Troy Aikman and Emmitt Smith: Dominated the early 90s, winning 3 SBs in 4 years. This duo might have won another two had their meddling owner, Jerry Jones, not decided to play general manager. Tip of the cap also goes to coach Jimmy Johnson, who had several great drafts to build around these two studs.

Any thoughts on this topic? Who are your top 5?

Cam and Trent Green have known each other for about 10 years or so since they were together with the Redskins, so let's hope they can plug in their guitars like the Beatles and rock as well as they ever did. :rockon:

I've never seen that football website, it's kind of like being at a good sports bar. Pretty cool so far. I like the pictures. Why can't the ladies at sports bars dress like they do in Germany over here in the U.S.? :chuckle:

I like this webpage. Us footballaholics can relate to it. :chuckle: http://www.coldhardfootballfacts.com/Pigskin_Dictionary.php

angry troll – A hairy, hunchbacked, unwashed subhuman who peruses and even publishes football Web sites, and who is often angered by the ignorant, agenda-ridden frauds who spread their uneducated filth across the Web, corrupting the minds of innocent young football fans. Usage: “‘The Cold, Hard Football Facts are a popular take among the semiliterate angry trolls who cruise the seedy underworld of online football punditry.â€Â

asser rating – A complex scientific formula developed by Cold, Hard Football Facts message board member, World Famous Cheerleader Thread founder and Holland native "Pigskin Science" to rate the *** of a hot chick. It proves that we're not just dirty, leering dudes, but that scientific principles are the foundation of all our activities.

Cult of Dan – A massive cult headquartered in South Florida which believes that former Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino never won a Super Bowl because he was surrounded by, and victimized by, incompetent teammates, a bad running game, poor defense, and the list of excuses goes on and on. Cult of Dan members refuse to admit that Marino joined the defending AFC champs as a rookie, twice played with the No. 1 scoring defense in football, had the luxury of playing most of his career for the winningest coach in NFL history (Don Shula) and led teams littered with Pro Bowl performers, 55 of them, in fact.

pigskindectomy – When your wife removes the remote from your hand on Sunday afternoon or refuses to let you go on that big road trip with the guys. Usage: “You won’t see me in the RV, boys. I’m getting a pigskindectomy this weekend.â€Â

"pundit" – The leper-like scourge upon Planet Pigskin and the arch-enemy of the Cold, Hard Football Facts. A "pundit" is someone in the mainstream media who professes to be a football expert and who confuses his/her thoughts and opinions with actual gridiron analysis, apparently unaware that every f'in drunk in a barroom has an opinion about football. "Pundits" are often beat senseless with our billy club of truth, the Cold, Hard Football Facts, and then sent to rot away behind the bars of Pigskin Detention.

First off, its too early to list BB and Brady number one, if they never win another title, which is easily possible, they will not rank above such pairings as Montana/Walsh.

I think its a joke the referenced article lists Madden/Davis but only talks about Shula/Griese as "also worth mentioning".

Shula/Griese won more Superbowls, and accomplished more than Madden/Davis, who won only one superbowl.
