can culpepper cut it as our qb this year?
after the pitt game i think hes still good but i expected more out of him
i knew he threw for 262 yards but i expected a much higher completion percentage and i didn't expect him to throw a pair if int's back to back
i think he can still cut it for us but i was just dissapointed because i thought we had a good chance to drive on them late in the game with him in there but it didn't happen
any thoughts?

(ps. i am not doubting culpepper)

Your expecting way too much out of just one game. And I mean come on, do you realize how hard it is to pass on that D that the Steelers had, after they won the super bowl, on opening night, IN their own house?

Ronnie wasn't helping either, do you remember that? We were forced to pass and Daunte did everything he could, and the end he was just in desperation mode which I don't blame a guy trying to prove something even though he did great all game considering the situation.

YOU DONT WIN EVERY GAME AND WE PLAYED THE DEFENDING SUPERBOWL CHAMPIONS WHY CANT PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THAT!

Well, first off...you say your not doubting him yet you say you expected more? My thought would be your trying to dance around the fact that you are disappointed with what you saw and are sugarcoating to avoid being attacked. I thought he was fine, rust...sure, there was some of that. But am I worried....OMG NO! He'll be fine and I think we'll see improvement week to week...starting next week. Definately dont worry...its a LONG season and Culpepper is a solid QB.

There are a million posts like this already. But I think he will be ok. He seriously looked antsy in the pocket. He made very bad decisions with the ball, and probably should have had another pick. I think we need to worry more about our horrid secondary this year. The secondary is what is going to seperate us from the elite this season.

mark my words...by midseason they will be an asset and will help us become "elite"

You kinda contradicted yourself there in a round about way. You said dont blame Cpep because he was playing against a very good D....but then you say ronnie wasn't helping? The same ronnie that was also playing against a very good D. You have a right to your opinion, I just thought it was strange you said dont blame this guy...but blame another guy on the same team.

I would think its fare to say the offense in general struggled against one of, if not the best D in the league.

I know where you are coming from young Jedi but keep the faith. The force will be with us. Culpepper? Do well he will.

I am very disapointed. DC had a chance to lead us back w/ 6 min left in the game but threw a pick. Instead of learning from his mistake after the D did their job and got the ball back to him w/ 3 min left he paniced and gave the game away to Pitt.w/ back to back pic's. He came here to help us win those type of games not to be another Fiedler. I am very disapointed that when the game was on the line for Pitt Batch stepped up and showed leadership whereas our coveted QB did not. It's not the end of the world and yeah it will take time for the offense to get it together but if DC shows this same type of decision making in the next 4 games the disapointment might lead to dispair. Hoping for the best but I along with the original poster and everyone who has vested thier heart into this team deserves to be disapointed with the end of the game regardless of the opponent. P.S. I did think he did a great job in the first half handling the blitz and the O-Line stunk it up the entire game.

what i was saying was that waht worried me was the back to back int's i know he was under pressure but he refused to use his legs to get out of the pocket and buy himself more time
if he would have tucket it and ran i guarantee some of those third and shorts would have been first and tens
he shouldn't worry about getting hurt he should be worried about winning and besides i think his knee will hold up now because after that fast paced game his knee looked healthy and he still got hit on a lot of plays

I don't see how everybody thought we were gonna walk right over the steelers anyway. They are the defending champs for a reason. He did an OK job against a great defense. Lets stand behind our players for a little bit more than the season opener. Give him at least a few games.

That really isnt my #1 question when it comes to this team.

I don't understand how we could go from . . . CPep being the savior of this team . . . to will CPep cut it for this team??????

Boggles my mind . . . I honestly thought he wasn't gonna play this year . . . and I didn't want hm to (if it meant risking further injury), but man getting him in and playing game one is a benefit for this team . . . and will definetly be an asset to the future success of this organization

One man does not a team make. Personally Daunte is the least of my concerns. The secondary needs to get up to speed quick if we have any chance of being a quality team. Goodman seems lost out there and Lehan is not even worth mentioning. Saban thought Jason Allen was important enough to spend a first round pick on and he's riding the bench if these guys are better than him I honestly do not ever see this secondary "being an asset by mid season". How is J. Allen going to improve without game time?

To be dissapointed with Daunte for the loss is not realistic as the game was lost before he threw those 2 interceptions. To be a playoff caliber team every player has to do their job well and when they don't it's unfair to automatically throw the blame on the QB for not winning the game interceptions or not.
