I love what Saban is doing in terms of not getting complacent with the talent that he has. Any chance he sees to get a potential upgrade to a position he gets it done. I can't remember any time other than the one year that we went 4-12 that Wanny did anything about changing the O-line. He chopped up all of last years starters and brought in 4 guys who have never blocked together before. Also i want to add that he had scrubs like Wade Smith starting against Dwight Freeney if i remember correctly, does anyone else see anything wrong with that? At least get him a tight end to help him out.

I totally agree - I've never seen a coach so focused on constant improvement. Since he has been here he has constantly tried to add guys to improve this team whether it's for a starting role or a potential practice squad guy. Awesome - what a difference from the Wanny days. Saban has not even left the coaching staff out of this process. This team is on their way to being a legit force in the top tier of the league and the way we are building - if this continues for the next couple of years with the youth being brought in we will hopefully be able to maintain it for awhile.

We are definately only going to get better if Saban keeps doing what he is doing now. I love the fact that we can actually have a coach that we can be proud of. When Wanny was coaching us i didn't really question alot of the things that he did but now that i look at it he was a really bad head coach. The collapse in NE, the collapse in NYJ, the fact that the offense never had one meeting together, etc. I could go all day naming crap that Wanny did that slowly ruined our team.

TOTALY AGREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

i think the only other upgrades that saban has to make is linebacker and d tackle...the ol is all set now...

Saban/Houck, and co. have kept the five starters, McIntosh, James, McKinney, Hadnot, and Carey, from last year's improved line along with last year's draft pick Alabi. They have added LJ Shelton, Mike Pearson, and today Bennie Anderson as well as Wade Smith coming back off injury, Tony Pape coming in off reserve and new draft choice Joe Toledo.

Imagine, last year's depth was at best promising young guys like Berger and Brooks. Today they would hard pressed to fit into a third string.

The line may not have an all-pro but we have pieces, veterans and a lot of raw talent to compete against each other and hopefully drive up each other's standards. I am very optimistic.

Its definately a breath of fresh air, just look what he has done with the Qb situation

I'm glad to see we are finally building the depths of our O-Line. If you want to be successful in this league, you must be deep with talent in the trenches. This is how the Pittsburgh Steelers have been. They had 8 solid O-Lineman going into this years draft, and what did they do? Draft 2 more O-Lineman!

They continue to keep a deep O-line. By constantly bringing in new bodies, it creates competition and helps players improve. I'm estatic we are finally making this a priority. Thanks to Saban, we are continuously improving and will be a strong contender year-to-year for a while.

Wade Smith was a rookie at the time, not a "scrub". There is a difference.
