The plan for this years draft is obviously the OL. The team has jettisoned six offensive linemen and brought in nobody to replace them, except Dan Stevenson. Right now the OL looks REALLY thin, with Shelton slated at LT (that worked out horridly last year), Jacox at LG, and the ever hurt Toledo at RG with no backup behind him. So what is the team going to do?

Here's the coaching plan IMO. They will draft two OT's and a C, move Shelton back to LG, and let the two draft picks and Alibi battle for the LT spot. Here's how I see the OL shaping up (and with my picks from my mock draft inserted):

LT - Alibi/Allen Barbre, OT, Missouri Southern
LG - Hadnot/Jacox
C - Samson Satele, C, Hawaii/Hadnot
RG - Shelton/Toledo
RT - Carey/Gabe Hall, OT, Texas Tech

Yep, that will work. If you don't think it will work, please, give me a better plan!

GO PHINS~!

I agree with what you said except that I think it will be:
LT: Levi Brown
LG:Lehr
C: Hadnot
RG: Shelton
RT: Carey

This way we only have to draft one starter, and add some depth.

I have a question about Shelton.

I remember when he was brought in it was for LT, and was off of FA. So I am sure he got a big payday.

So my question is he still making LT money to play LG, RG.

Then again G's are infalted too, so I guess it would not really matter. Good thing you stay away from the Premier LT spot in this years FA. Otherwise you would be paying a good penny there.

There were no "Premier" LTs available in FA. The "best" LT available, the guy from Arizona, got big $$$ signing elsewhere (Oakland?) but he was pretty much a bust given as high as he was taken in the draft.

I understand that. I guess I meant the Premier position on the Oline. Yeah he was signed by Dal I think. and not even to play tackle.

The point I guess I was making is what would Sheltons cap hit be, Because I know he was signed to play LT, but could not do it. So he has to be making "LT" money to play gaurd.

Much like Gandy was with the Bills at the end of the season when Peters took his job.

You are completely off. Jacox is not a Dolphin. He's an UFA. Then, Alabi is seen as a RT by Houck.

Also, Shelton played well at LT. Thus, why MIA jettisoned DMac. They are looking for another G because they plan on moving Shelton back to LT.

"If" they move Carey to LT and keep Shelton at RG, where he played superbly...then they will draft a LT prospect to develop first as Carey's backup.

MIA doesnt like Levi Brown according to reports.

Common guys! these oline theads are gettingto me worse than chambers/williams/cullpepper ones..

I completely disagree with the plan to only draft tackles...

The Dolphins will draft multiple o-linemen, but it will include guys across the line. Jacox is a free agent by the way. And conventional wisdom will hopefully keep Shelton at guard. They most definitely will need to get a left tackle. Stevenson really isn't a guy they brought in; he spent last season on the practice squad. He could be a good player, but who knows. As it is now, Hadnot is at center, Toledo and Shelton at guards, and Carey and Alabi at tackles, with Stevenson currently as the only backup on the team. There will be as many as 10 more players signed as draft picks or college free agents, or a couple of a guys like Lehr. But huge turnover has already occurred. I suspect that Lehr and a restricted free agent may be signed giving Miami around 8 linemen on the whole team going into the draft. It will not take a rocket scientist to know they will draft o-linemen.

What reports, can you fill me in. I haven't heard anything.

No, you are completely off. He's still a Dolphin right now.

He might be seen there, but he's still listed on the depth chart as the backup tackle.

He played well at LT? That's some funny stuff you're smoking. He was moved from LT to RG last year b/c he played horribly at LT. That would be the worst possible scenario for this team.

Why would they want to move Carey to LT???? Where have you seen or even heard that is a remote chance??? NOT happening. As for Shelton at RG, didn't you just say he would be the LT??? Make up your mind.

That's why he wasn't in my plan. Speaking of plans, just what is it that you propose that will be better?

Here's what I think...we'll draft a guard or a center before we draft an OT....I think Alibi will start at LT and I think Toledo will have a chance to start at 1 guard spot....Shelton will probably start the other but we'll draft a guard and/or a center on day one.....if we get a center that can start the Hadnot could move back to guard...if we draft a guard then we'll compete with Toledo...that's my 2 cents.

Ozzy rules!!

Jacox is currently an UFA, though I did read that his agent has been talking with the Dolphins. He has the same agent as Traylor and the agent said he was talking to the team about both Traylor and Jacox right before Traylor resigned.

MrEd is a good guy, but he has a minority opinion as to how well Shelton played at LT. I respect his opinion b/c he got it from watching the games himself, but I do not agree with it and IMO, Shelton did very well at RG and the team would be best suited if he remained there. I'd move Carey to LT before I'd ever give Shelton another try there. Though I would prefer we leave our solid right side intact and look for guys to compete for the LG job and also to compete at LT with Alabi.

IMO, Alabi will be given first shot at winning the OLT job. Houck likes his potential and has been grooming him for this chance and for Alabi it will now be time to fish or cut bait.
