We have the highest paid LT in NFL history with Jake Long whom went to the ProBowl as a rookie. The funny thing is he wasn't our best o-lineman this preseason nor our best rookie o-lineman this preseason. That would be Donald Thomas (6th round pick) whom Parcells called a godsend but unfortunantly got injured before the season. We just paid Vernon Carey 40+ mill a week ago and our very high paid and main FA from last year (Justin Smiley) was also lost for the year. Sampson was playing with 2 back-ups all year long pretty much and was handicapped by the fact. So for all the newbies or bandwagon jumpee's don't look for much help on the o-line besides building through the draft (which our FO has repeated numerous times already) and no high picks on the line either because our o-line is about the highest paid in the game and with no injuries could be the best in the game easily.

I must be honest and say that I expected some of the same non-sense that you have referred to. God bless you for being a savy, intelligent and articulate fan with a view that happens to be the same as mine.

I think its a far scretch to call Thomas a better rookie than Long with only 1 game to compare the two w/.

I agree with this, Id still like to see an upgrade at center. Satele IMO is better served at RG. Let him and Thomas duke it out for that spot and either sign or draft our future center [not overpaying for Brown of course if thats the way we go].

All any of us has to go by is what was reported all through OTA's and what we had reported in camps and seen in that game and the word from all of those sources was Donald Thomas was our best and most surprising player at those times. Some things we do know is that our FO likes to build through the draft and they have already forked out alot of $ on O-lineman.

I don't understand all this love for Brown. He is the same height as Satele and only weighs 20 pounds more. At the o-line, 20 pounds counts, but not like it does at say RB. I just don't think we have an issue with SS.

I think WR/LB is our biggest need. Then safety help/depth. Then we just need to look for BPA. Shula always drafted what he thought was BPA. That worked pretty well for him for many years.

Some poor newbie started a thread saying something about Satele to FB.:( I knew a winning year always brings these kinds out from everywhere but, MY GOD!!!!

although I really think we could use an upgrade at Center, Satele DID play with a torn labrum all year.

I didn't know that. I haven't been around much this offsaeson and from the looks of things that wasn't necessarily bad. Always have longtime posters like you to catch us up.:thanks:

Terrible "excuse" :rolleyes2:

Actually I watched every game. Sunday Ticket.

If you stop and think about the fact that he had a backup RG the entire year, and a backup LG for the last 6 games then you would realize that this puts added pressure on an injured center. For him to have manned up and continued to play says a whole lot to me. I see no reason at this point to replace him.

What was your opinion of Satele after his rookie year? Where was this football brilliance then? Oh yeah, you had to wait for someone else to post an opinion that you have decided to agree with. He was out best and most consistent o-lineman his rookie year.

Why is it terrible? Look at all the ignorance from people with low post counts that are obviously bandwagoner's or haven't stayed with the team through the hard times like most of us. Their is nothing going on right now except speculation and a whole lot of ignorance. I don't need to explain myself to the posters that matter. For newbies and bandwagon jumpers I could care less. BTW FA starts FRIDAY.

in his rookie year he looked good, im not saying that. he was not our best OL, Carey was. last year he messed up with a lot of things that had nothing to do with physicality. he looked lost on plays, and strait missed blocks

Another year in our new scheme and everyone healthy should help all our players from last year be better. If they don't then we can replace them. Just my opinion though. We have alot of $ tied up in O-line already.

Could that be from trying to pick up a missed assignment by a backup guard?

And Carey has never been our best o-lineman. He is lazy. I had no interest in resigning him. Hope I am wrong. we'll see.
